I got 2 of these on 20th Feb and they have been great until yesterday when one of them started acting up. At first the it was making the flavour of the eliquid muted and then it basically started to create an awful yukky taste. I emptied it and gave it a good rinse under the hot water tap, then attached it back to the battery and pressed the button on the battery a few times to dry it. I tried more liquid in it but it was just the same. I left it overnight with the liquid inside and tried it again. No change. Now it just seems to destroy the taste of the liquid and tastes burnt, like a dry cartomiser Now my questions are: 1. Have I broken it? 2. If I have, can I fix it? 3. What did I do wrong? 4. If its not broken, what could be wrong with it? 5. Could it just need a proper clean and if so, how do I do it? 6. Should I just bin it and buy another?

I cleaned one of mine earlier and am having the same issues. Am going to rinse it out again and see if that helps.

I think they don't like being dry burned, I did it to one of mine and it's not so good now.
DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY!
We may be able to rewick/coil them.

I also see mo be starting to have problems with mine there is flooding at the batt end (going to take Des' advice and only fill to 1.2) but the draw has gotten tighter, you can hear it gurgling and then juice in mouth, no vapour and no hit Oh and this one was washed and air dried for a couple days before I refilled I was doing well until now!

Just anecdotal, but I have had success with dry burning once it starts churning out burnt caramel bits and tasting funny (which took about four days for me).
On two occasions I've opened it up first, however, which allows you to see when the coil is clear and rinse it all out properly, and this requires some mechanical wrangling. If you're planning to give up on it, you may as well try to get the lid off.
You know the dry burn is finished when it stops throwing out smoke. This takes, for me, ten or twenty four-second burns, but once done it's been as good as new for me.
I'd be slightly worried about dry burning with the lid on, because there's maybe a risk of melting the rubber cap on top and it's hard to tell how it's progressing. It might be possible to hook out the rubber and metal caps (which sit on top of the central column)without removing the tank first, and then dry burn, but that could also be fiddly to get back on afterwards
Definitely don't bin them. My first one is still going strong.

I think I may have to enlist hubby to do the mechanical bits then I just watched the you tube videos on how to clean and re wick them but I don't think I would be able to get it apart myself because I don't have much strength in my hands or a very good grip

The original video method (where he just works the lid off by hand) doesn't work with the latest batch of EVS. You either knock it through with a pipe or rod, or work the bottom collar off somehow. I take the collar off with pliers. I reckon it's possible, with patience and a pair of tweezers, to get the caps off and on without disassembling, but I found it easier to just remove the tank first. There's a tech discussion toward the end of this thread allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=5324&page=8#126557

As much as I would like to try to bring my new toy back to it's former glory, I'm so new to vaping (Not even 3 weeks) and I don't have any equipment to be able to re-wick/coil it and wouldn't know where to get it. I think I'll bite the bullet and order another 2 to see how long they last. In the meantime I'll see how far I can get with dismantling the poorly one, get hubby to help where I struggle and just try to clean it for now. As 2risky has said, I may as well give it a go but whenever I take anything apart and put it back together, I always end up with "Spare Parts"

If you can wiggle the bottom metal ring off, the gubbins come out easily using a battery as a puller. Then you just follow the vid for dry burning and put it back together again.
It's not actually that hard, we blokes just have to pretend it's really difficult so we have a reason to exist. Good luck.

That's no excuse. I'm blonde too and it doesn't even come out of a bottle.

I think these use the .16 nichrome wire. I have that available (left over from the last group buy) if anyone needs any It works out at 7p a metre plus first class postage of 46p.
