Typical.. Just been on fastech and ordered one of these thought to myself that it would be an interesting build HA!! Looks like you made a good job of it in the end anyway.. kudos.. Think i will run it with just 1 or 2 coils when it arrives

Think i will run it with just 1 or 2 coils when it arrives At least there will be another here who is going through the 'pain'. I got this atty last year and only quad coiled it twice before using vertical coils. Good clouds when you get it set right, but a bit of a nightmare to get right. Hence it has sat unused for last 6 months. But after I got the 'Steam Punk' clone, the 'Cat's' was just begging to sit on top. So I thought I would try and crack this quad thing by following a video on youtubeI used a couple of 4mm steel bars that I got with my rose atty's to coil them on and left the bar in place while I tackled the other side, but the method was the same as in the vid. Now I waiting for my Sony's to recharge so I can see if I got it right. They are much bigger than what have seen used before, but I like the soaking ability of the the big wicks you can use. I may have to tweak wicks to get the airflow right. We will see in a few hours.

I had my eye on it for a while now but the post arrangement was a bit daunting, I consider myself a novice coil maker.. tho i saw a utube review of an atty with a similar post configuration which indicated it was a good thing?? so decided to pull the trigger.. its a pretty atty at least

phatfil The one from FT, if its the same as mine, is a blooming good copy of the original. Prepare yourself for a lot of adjusting of coils and wick to get the airflow 'just right' around the coils though.

Just spent the last 2 hours trying to quad coil a Cat's. It didn't look too tricky, using the method of wrapping 2 coils around the same bar and then doing the same on the other side. But I can tell you, it's a pain in the butt. Eventually I got there, after wrecking 3 of the twin coils, i ended up with 2 passable sets that matched each other O.K. HOPE I DON'T HAVE TO DO THAT AGAIN FOR A WHILE.
I have bad news hijack - 2 hours is the good life. I spent 5 hours last tuesday 'playing' with KFL+then I don't know how long on Friday with cross threaded, jammed pmma tank. I told a non vaping medic I know that this surpassed even my 'trying to fix e-cig' time - they just smiled and said 'it's a good distraction for you'

Personal preference is to squeeze them together, also on an easier to set up atty lol That's on a tobh. Not sure the method you used but I fold a piece of wire in half then wind to coils out the way so all the leads line up in the right area.

The only problem I see is that you've basically ended up with a big single coil... without temp control this is going to get hottest in the middle and will be the spot where your juice will run dry quickest and burn the cotton. If it works for you then great. We all like different things

The beauty is loads of surface area but low ohms. Cotton or wicking problems in drippers is always to do with either being to tight or not tight enough.

Not sure the method you used but I fold a piece of wire in half then wind to coils out the way so all the leads line up in the right area. Up until recently I would have done micro's, but I have found I get better vapor production from a spaced coil. I find the cotton is more able to 'puff up' and draws the liquid in to the center better. Only just started using this Cat's again, but that build is the best that it has ever worked. I found with my KF's, a coil of 4mm or more and spaced helped a lot to cure the odd dry hit i was getting. This atty is like taking a draw though a tea strainer with its 6 air holes. I think part of the reason this build is working so much better, is it gives a little resistance to the air when you take a draw and the air has to go where you have left the gaps for it.
Blocking 2 holes with the wick and forcing the air to be draw under the coils and up towards the neck. First time this has worked like i thought it should in terms of clouds.

Closed coils I never get a dry hit on the kfl+ either, dry hits are often to much wick, not enough wick, to loose or to tight but as long as it works for you that's all that matters. For drippers I always keep it clear under and behind the coil so the air can get through. It's a very pleasant vape even down around 0.08 ohms. Trial and error gets you there in the end lol

I think it's a great atty that it can fully accommodate different styles of Vaping. On mine tonight. Tough to beat the flavour this thing puts out. It's just right up my street

Tough to beat the flavour this thing puts out. It's just right up my street Yeh no doubt, everyone has their own thing. But yeh, I like sharing my experience with vaping, giving ideas that I find work well. In no way suggesting everyone should do it like me or it's wrong, just a different perspective that I personally find really enjoyable. As for the derringer I'm trying to convince anyone that'll listen that it's an awesome atty lol. My derringer is different from yours in I have four post holes, the centre is a double which makes coiling easier. Also seems to hold a fair whack of juice too, juice well is pretty decent, holds more than the tobh anyway. That quad coil pic is the tobh too, got 5 wrap 20G coils in the derringer just now.
