Sorry. Just needed to share.
I've only been making my own coils for a few weeks. Got bored before and decided to attempt a twisted coil.
I only have 28awg kanthal. So twisted some of that. Threw it in the coil jig. Gave it 6 twists.
Now the only dripper I have is a £2.60 igo l from fast tech (with the air flow drilled out to 3mm) so threw it in. Pinched with some ceramic tweezers etc. coil settled at 0.73ohms.
Won't lie. Was terrified I'd done it wrong but wicked it up and made sure it was totally saturated.
Fired it up at 35watts and blow me down it actually worked! Up to 45 and still good. I daren't go any higher haha.
Chucking massive clouds. Flavour is immense (Mrs Bees True Dairy custard. 90% VG).
It's sad how made up at I am hahaha. But I never thought I'd ever even be building my own coils. Never mind twisting kanthal and sub ohming.
I know there's people making much better coils and far lower etc and a twisted kanthal coil really isn't that amazing but I'm really thrilled at my own progress haha.

Top Job tho and if i was wearing a hat i would take it off to you Thanks! I twisted it by hand, and I did twist until I couldn't twist it any more. But I'll be getting the drill out next time to make sure it actually is as twisted as it can be! I'm just ecstatic it actually worked!

I didn't realise until after I'd done it and checked Google to make sure it looked okay that it was normally done with a drill. I thought it was done by hand. A friend won some twisted coils and claptons last vendors day and we were talking about it earlier as she'd just thrown the twisted coils in her freak show rda and was amazed at the clouds and flavour. So I just thought I'll give it a go.

Well done bud but for the sake of your wrist get the drill next time lol. Keep drill spinning till it snaps and your good to go. Another option is to take some twisted and gently hammer it flat slightly. Increases the surface area massively but you do need to use thicker wire like .37 0.40

Will try that, have made a note of the kanthan. To be honest I still confused by all the different available kanthal types. With all the different agw and the same agw but different mm etc etc. I am currently browsing FT for a dripper with a bit more room and better air flow. Not sure if I'm brave enough for a duel coil yet. I'm not confident I can make two coils that are identical.

I didn't want to waste a load of wire if it was a complete fail.

cant find it now but i saw a utube on twisting shorter lengths manually 1) hold the 2 ends in the jaws of pliers, 2) hook a biro pocket clip over the loop and pull taught 3) roll the biro on your leg keeping the wire taught and moving the pliers with the biro roll 4) continue rolling the biro till the wire snaps. the utube made it look easy as they do

Will be giving it another go. I used a small screw driver to twist and held the other end with pliers. But didn't keep twisting until it snapped.
