Keep these posts coming digicig, they are a fascinating insight into living and working in a foreign country. I have never been to China, but it is interesting to hear of your life on a daily level, complete with pictures etc. It must be a challenge to teach your native language to non-speakers - I'm not sure quite how I would start that task!!

Now been sent the Newspaper article - and no mention of Vaping despite mentioning it to my interpreter/colleague and turning down the 'Ritually Offered' cigarette and pointing to, and using me mod instead Facepalm

Is the press Government-regulated digicig? If so, that might explain the reluctance to mention something which will lose the Chinese authorities tax - does that ring a bell!?

I voiced my reluctance and reservations about newspapers and journalism in general before taking part - which was pretty much a contractual obligation Yep - pretty much all media, if not Government owned, then 'tows the party line' - by default if nothing else The quick and easy run through - is along the lines "I climb the mountain every day - which i don't, that my students like my energy and enjoy me lessons, and i'm integrating with the Chinese staff, Xianning and way of life well, and that i think the air quality in Xianning is pretty good - i think is the gist - oh and mainly cook my own food The pics were pretty much all 'staged' - including picking the only class that happened to have uniforms, and informing them before hand to wear them for a photo shoot, and, as it happened to be the last class i'd be teaching them, the girls wanted selfies with me with their posh togs on - they wanted to take a pic of me having a VoIP chat with someone, preferably Ma - at midday here - so 4am back home. Well that wasn't going to happen. So for the less observant or tech savvy, that's just a still photo of me Ma i'm pretending to talk to instead LoL Said to me 'line manager', before i agreed to my 'contractual obligation to promote the college', that Newspapers manipulate or omitt the truth or outright lie to get a story..... PS My actual words, when explicitly asked about air quality in Xianning, were along the lines of better than i expected, and even at it's worst, no worse than London - for instance

I guess you can put the difference down to the translation. Looks like a nice area of China you are in.

Some Vape related Pics On the Fast Train down to ShenZhen ShenZhen Coastal Ecological Gardens And overlooking the harbour towards Hong Kong Edit to add: The trousers i am 'modelling' i got over here via the infamous taobao.com - most trousers here can be an ickle short in length or, due to fashion, impossible to get over my western proportioned thighs. They are possible the most vape friendly trousers i own, having a potential mod pocket on both sides (so ambidextrous) as well as a zip cargo type pocket too! And my Chinese isn't that good - so i pay an extra 10% for the privilege of being able to order and have customer support in English via taobaofocus

Short story - ripped all the extensor tendons in me right foot doing karate aged 23, no operation available (at least on the NHS) - 'banned' from my then Dr. from all sport due to perpetual tendinitis. If i kicked a ball back to kids, i might not be able to walk properly for a few days and tree climbing was impossible. Moved to Hull for Uni at 25 - my Dr. was unavailable so saw a locum, asked about me foot and sport, and his response was, do i ever walk barefoot? Er, well yes, i grew up 10 minutes from a beach, so in the summer it was easier to go barefoot then carry your shoes. Apparently going barefoot was the best thing i could do was walk barefoot as much as possible, which would build the muscle in my feet, which would then support the tendons. So tried it, it worked, and now 20 years later i'm happily still climbing trees and shun footwear where and when possible

You should be making a documentary digicig... and write a journal or book...I think you are a 'natural' ( & not too bad on the eyes )
