I have now double coiled my Magma (0.1 ohms) and am getting great results! Jim A tip of doing dual coils with Ni is to cut both bits of wire exactly the same length so you can tell that you have the same amount of wire between the terminal by the length of the bit you cut off. I do a similar thing with the sleeper coils I use in the origenny, just dual coil from a single length of wire, but after tightening down the middle I cut the 2 wires to be the same length and those ends go through the same post and it is easy to get well matched coils.

Must give this a go and I expect it will work with other wire types ie TI & SS and presumably Kanthal?

I personally find M3 X 5mm A2 Stainless grub screws with hex socket DIN 916 so much easier to use. The drawback is you need a 1.5mm Allen key! Jim

ok i did something dumb and it works train of thought kanthal has v low surface conduction ni 200 has very high surface conduction and needs spaced coils brain wave ill make a clapton using 0.4 ni200 wrapped with 0.2 kanthal did a 3 mm 6 warp micro coil in the plume and it works in tc at 0.08 ohms After a few attempts at running it dry.

Not silly at all, they need to be that way for mixed Ni/A1 wire for the temp limiting to have a chance because the low res of the short fat wire will be soooo much less the the long thin wire even when it more than doubles when hot, the other way round would be silly as the res wouldn't change nearly as much with heat.

decoyPlease enlighten my ignorance, what is a "clapton"? Jim Other than an over ratted guitarist it is a coil made from clapton wire which a thin wire wound around a thicker wire and looks like a round wound guitar string, both wires are normally the Kanthal, but you can use any other resistance wire. Here is a close up of a all Ni200 pair I did, the outer was 0.2 mm and the inner was 0.3 mm, but you can buy it from FT now so I wont be making it again.
