Help how? It promotes e-cigs as NRT - for smoking cessation... "Since the invention of the e-cigarette in 2003, many have been using it to quit. A study by doctors in South Africa in 2009 found that 45 per cent of smokers using the e-cigarette were able to quit tobacco cigarettes within two months. "
This is precisely what we don't need - they quote Katherine Devlin saying that they are not a quit smoking aid, and the go on, again, to feature yet another quitter.

The problem is, that the e cigs are good for stopping people smoking, you can bang on all you like about the problems it will cause if people continue saying it. But they are going to say it, because it is.

I look on e cigs as a smoking alternative myself and one I much prefer for over 400 reasons. This worried me a bit from that article: "We all know the dangers of lighting up. Those little white sticks contain more than just an addictive hit of nicotine; there’s everything from tobacco and tar to carbon monoxide and even rat poison." I have rat poison every day, I take warfarin. But, it's a new one on me, it being in cigarettes!

It's possible they mean arsenic, Anne - I'm fairly sure that's been mentioned as being amongst all the ghastly 'extras' you get from burning tobacco. There are certainly all sorts of things in them and although much is made of there being thousands of them, logic demands they must be in fairly miniscule amounts.
Don't know about you, but I survived over 30 years of smoking and while it certainly didn't do me any good it hadn't finished me off completely before I started vaping. We're actually a pretty tough species, us humans. The vast majority live in towns & cities where the environmental contaminants are legion - just think vehicle exhaust fumes for a kickoff; most of the population survive them, too.

Isn't any positive publicity good publicity? Whether its within our known 'right things to say' or not! Talking to a smoker about what you can or can't say, to me is stupid, it's all well and good to be PC correct if you know what your talking about, but does anyone else? If 45% did give up...what's the problem? That's good! I used them to give up smoking, And it worked....

But they are going to say it, because it is. That's fine if you're happy with just the Nicadex available to you, and all other e-cigs and juices effectively banned. As it happens, I'm not.

Yeah, it wasn't until I found this forum and all the goodies that I could have that I managed to completely give up the nasties! If some inferior cig-a-like gets government go ahead it will probably not have a much better success rate than all the other NRT stuff already approved. I am a committed smoker, I now prefer vaping, for me that's a good thing and I don't really want government inteference

The unfortunate thing in all these "positive" reports is the ignorance of the journalism , the piece hasn't been written well because the reporter hasn't a clue what he/she is really reporting , there is some positive to take from a small section of the report and that is Kaths statement , although it seemed to get lost in sensationalism of the quitters

I agree with you Karma - I liked smoking which is why the cessation products didn't work for me; I don't want other people, generally donkey's years younger than me, pontificating as to what is best for my health - I know my engine thanks!
The best thing vaping has done for me is to rid my body of all the chemicals that are in burning tobacco and to make up my mind that if e-cigs are banned, I will NEVER smoke again. I definitely wouldn't have stopped smoking if it weren't for e-cigs and I think I will find it far easier to give up vaping if the powers that be force me to do so.

Yeah, Fox, but I would rather the powers that be just keep out of it

Have no fear Foxy the internet is here , seriously if there was a ban on ecigs can you really see any of us quitting vaping ? I certainly can't , between the 2 UK forums and other forums around the world it would be nigh on impossible to prevent us getting our fix !

Sorry I'll add that some vendors also have their own forums but I really only recognize AAEC and UKV

I'm sure the vendors must have a business plan, or ways to get round interference! If not then i'm sure more of them would add their comments to threads like this! Poor Gizwald will end up even further underground than he already is
