The Daily Fail has a piece too today. Saying after all nicotine isn't that bad but no more smoking outside of pubs. I don't think that will do the pubs any good. Daily Fail

So now they want to ban smoking outside? Honestly this just confirms my belief that the indoor smoking ban was nothing to do with health it's just a modern day puritan campaign. How about instead of banning adults engaging in a legal adult past time in a pub garden we ban "family pubs", they are a scourge. Shut down any pub with a swing set, slide, ball pit or any other such crap which belongs in a kids club. The only games that belong in pubs are pool/snooker/billiards, dominoes, cards and darts. And while we're at it lets get rid of "gastro pubs".
Bring back the boozer!

This annoys me no end, and seems to confirm the original ban has sod all to do with health! We are all ex smokers and despite the fact I have managed to rid myself of the dreaded weed, I do feel for those that are still hooked as they are being demonised by politicians in the same way they demonise anything there's a chance they can get a backhander from!

Just ban the kids, they get in the way. As for Gastropubs, why does stripping the paint off a wooden floor and charging over the top prices justify it being worthwhile ? trouble is around here they are full all the time, so somebody likes them. Bring back the old local boozer, smoke, banter and the occasional drunken fight to make it worth going out lol. MP

Reading the times today (sorry not my copy so cannot scan), huge artical about OP post, then 5 pages on small artical saying how a health expert disagrees totaly, so not biased reporting then ???? Even the times that I relied on for good reporting is now like reading the daily fail. I'll stick to the sun in future, at least you know its all lies lol.

Shutting down all pubs/bars . . . . I'm surprised that's not been considered an option. Do these decision making eejits, really believe that by banning smoking outside of such establishments it will encourage more smokers to quit! What utter codswallop, it will drive even more smokers who enjoy a drink with their ciggy's to do so at home - it's already happened to an extent since the smoking ban. And what about the premises that have invested in providing outside Smoking Shelters in an attempt to keep their customers.

I liked the way that they got in there that by stopping adults smoking outside, children would not see smoking as "normal". Yet again another thing that a parent doesn't have to do!
"Can i smoke mum?"
"No son because you are a child, when you are an adult you can make up your own mind if you want to smoke!".
BTW we should probably ban drinking outside as well in case children see adults wobbling, dribbling, fighting and being a general nuisance as normal.
