Awful news I've got a friend that lives in Shoreham & an ex boyfriend of mine kept his light aircraft there. He regularly joined in Aerobatics displays. Just hoping that neither of them were involved in this awful accident My thoughts are also with all the families.

My son lives a couple of miles away, and my brother in law lives in Shoreham, almost backing on to the A27, we spent a worrying ½hour trying to contact him, he was up on the Downs watching the display & saw it happen

This is just down the road from me. I drove through there 30 minutes before the crash. One of the victims that tragically lost his life was a local guy that lives 5 minutes from me. I can't imagine the terror felt by the people there. My thoughts go out to the victims and their families

Well, after an agonising day yesterday trying to reach my brother who lives in Shoreham I finally got hold of him this morning - phew. He'd travelled down to Somerset and was in an area with bad mobile signals which is why I wasn't able to get hold of him.
Apparently he was on that road when it happened, he was around 20 cars behind the crash, he said if they hadn't stopped for a quick leak they might have been involved in the crash. How lucky for them was that eh.
My heart goes out to all the families of those that were involved and lost their lives. They're saying today that the count could go up to 20 lost lives once they remove the plane wreckage. Terrible.

It's shocking, so sad. News today (you have to believe these experts) reckoned he steered it away from airfield to save killing thousands, but thats not good for anyone popping to shops down A27. Airshows, like motor racing do have a background danger that makes them exciting, this one was appaling, but if you look at how many during summer in uk and death rate compared with road accidents brings it into perspective. Thats not good news for the poor people involved i'm afraid and I'm not making light of it. MP

If we can go back to original posting, read the book about the vulcans in the falklands (sorry cannot remember books name) but a good read about heroic people.

If anyone around the area travels that way I advise you to avoid it,
I have to get to Worthing hospital every day and today was horrible for traveling, and unfortunately will have to do it for the rest of the week.
So if you can I would avoid area.
