Ah....haaaaaaaaaa.............Now I've read it for the 3rd time, it makes sense.........I thought maybe you had a stutter...........

I believe it's fly-by a few weeks back was it's last time in the sky...........shame...........One of my exes Uncles was the pilot to the only B17 in flying existence at all the air shows.....I watched it at Duxford on the 50th anniversary of the Spitfire.......It led the formation.........I got to sit at the controls too & also climb down into the underside & rear gun turrets......The guys that manned them were brave to say the least......

Vulcan 607 by Rowland White is a good read for any aircraft fans, actually it's a good read for anyone.
Here's the blurb-

It was to be one of the most ambitious operations since 617 Squadron bounced their revolutionary bombs into the dams of the Ruhr Valley in 1943 ...April 1982. Argentine forces had invaded the Falkland Islands. Britain needed an answer. And fast. The idea was simple: to destroy the vital landing strip at Port Stanley. The reality was more complicated. The only aircraft that could possibly do the job was three months from being scrapped, and the distance it had to travel was four thousand miles beyond its maximum range. It would take fifteen Victor tankers and seventeen separate in-flight refuellings to get one Avro Vulcan B2 over the target, and give its crew any chance of coming back alive. I was born n bread in Eastbourne so airborne is akin to very fond memories.
One of the best for me was when I ironically wasent able to get to the seafront
But our house was right on one of the lineup paths they used.
I was doing some gardening out front and right over road is a huge field then south downs.
I remember hearing this incredible rumble looked up to see 3 Lancaster bombers accompanied by 6 spitfires.
Watched in aww as they got closer and I kid you not I could see the pilots as they came directly overhead.
It's a memory that even now makes the hairs on my neck stand up.

For several years I worked in a hotel smack on seafront and doing split shifts I finished at 12 pm started again at 5 I got to watch most of the displays.
Saw the first eurofighter, and some crazy Chinese fighterplane that could go from insane speed to hover to mental acrobatics in seconds.
