I'm a bit of a coffee snob and I've been searching for a genuine coffee flavour and all the concentrates I've tried don't quite taste right. I was wondering is it possible to extract the flavour from coffee grinds like you would with tobacco leaves? And has anyone ever tried it?

Yes . . . . I'll have to search for the threads for you jim750. In the meantime, have you tried DV's Cafe Brasiliano/Doppio Espresso or Mom & Pops Joe . . . . which our coffee lover PinkyPuff highly rates. ( I'll go look for the coffee extraction thread now. )

Solubarome Brazilian Coffee is good, most aren't.
Speaking as another coffee snob who uses different beans depending on where I am.
In West Aberdeenshire (water loaded with iron and manganese), the Kenyan beans I use where the water is drinkable make horrible coffee. You need a much darker roast - Ethiopian burnt beans work there.
In London - just use cat crap, the water will drown anything better.

I have a coffee steep experiment going on at the moment.
I bought some coffee bags from sainsburys. They have an offer at the moment , 18 bags of Lyons coffee break for £1.75
Put 3 bags and 100 ml of pg in a jar and heated gently in a pan of hot water on a low heat for an hour or so. Swooshed around and took the lid off every 10 mins or so. Totally black like a nice strong coffee after that.
Going to try and leave with the bags in for a week maybe to extract the maximum flavour.
Will report back if anyone is interested?

Coffee however is nice as is. Ive also tried making coffee flavoured AVG by making a strong filter coffee and adding the coffee to neat VG at 20%. Was then just a case of adding nic to your desired mg. Was a tad weak but had a nice lingering coffee flavour. Killed coils though.

I made one up a few weeks ago and it's so far worked really well. I used 40 mil Pg, 3 heaped teaspoons of fine ground Turkish coffee. Heated Pg up to 80 degrees and added the coffee. Stirred well and put into the heated slow cooker ( water enough to come halfway up the jam jar I was using and a tea towel in the pot to stop any thermal shock on the glass. Let it cook on low for 20 mins .
To filter I used normal coffee filter first, then put 2 15 mm cotton discs cut from muji cotton in bottom if a 10 mil syringe. Then rolled a 20 mm wide strip and put that in syringe then squashed down with plunger. Removed plunger and filled with coffee solution and pushed through the cotton into bottle. This method removed nerely 100% and liquid was obviously dark but crystal clear. Ended up with just over 30 mil concentrate. I've used this at 25% with 2% Bavarian cream and 1% sweetner. So far it's bloody ansum.

Think i'll try the same thing with tea bags at some point too phtumshkLove a nice strong cup of tetleys tea never tried a tea vape though so unsure how it will translate. Maybe nice with a citrus twist. The experiment I mentioned above is actually my second try with coffee. The first one I did a similar thing but used loose grinds. Not sure I filtered it sufficiently though. I can't see any solids remaining in but I've made a mix up with 10% of it in and although it tastes pretty good it seems to clog up the back of my nose and throat. Thinking maybe there's some kinda micro particles left in there...? I like the sound of your filtering method igual. Will have to give that a try. Have you had any problems with nose or throat feeling a little clogged / dry when using your diy coffee mix? also 25% sound a lot, how strong does yours taste with a lick test? My second batch I tasted earlier and tastes way stronger than my first

Coffee extracts are probably not a very good idea though I've tried it myself. Keep the temperature below 90C when extracting or you'll get the nasty burnt coffee flavour.
There is quite a lot of oil in coffee which has a very large amount to do with the flavour.
But it is not remotely a good idea to inhale that.
I can think of ways round that - but they involve lab glassware and distillation under vacuum. And these days that stuff is a very, very long way from cheap.
Look up ultracentrifuges (Which cost the sort of money usually spent on houses) for other ways of getting the oils out.

Even though it's a really strong Turkish blend, grind I learnt from past attempts to go with less strength, amount of coffee as you end up with a very acrid conc even if kept below 90degrees .

I'm aiming to get this latest batch strong as poss! igual Sure I'll learn some lessons. Thinking by leaving the bags in a while might help get a more well rounded flavour... Dunno, worth a try anyway The last mix I did with my previous diy coffee concentrate I used 24mg hangsen ry4 instead of nic base. Added some cream and brown sugar flavour too. Is very nice apart from the aforementioned affect...

I have Inawera's capuccino and that's very nice. I prefer my coffee rather weak than strong so only made it up at 5% and the coffee flavour comes through nicely at that ratio, but I reckon if you doubled that up to 10% you would probably get a nice strong tasting capuccino. You don't need to add sweetener though as it is quite sweet without.
