Intrigued by the talk of flavourings from the supermarket shelf, I had a look today. I came away with a bottle of vanilla and one of almond. I made a mistake with the almond, as it contains vegetable oil, but it will go in cakes/custards/etc in the future. The vanilla works ok - I added just one or two drops to a carto and could taste it nicely; later I experimented with apple/vanilla, cherry/vanilla, menthol/vanilla and all turned out quite well. There were no peculiar off-flavours, but I don't want to assume this vanilla essence is safe without further digging around - on the label the ingredients are: water, PG, glycerine, flavouring, colour (caramel E150d). There are other flavours in the range, but my local supermarket (in a small town) doesn't stock much. Here's the maker's site www.goodalls.ie/our-range/flavours-natural-essences/

Providing they don't contain oils you should be ok Farzooks . . . generally supermarket flavourings aren't as intense in flavour as the likes of TPA etc, plus the flavours can mute after a short time in a mix. But they make a perfectly nice substitute.

Hi all
I bought a whole lot of supermarket flavourings all containing alcohol rather than oil as I read somewhere (I think it must have been Griz's stuff) that oils can kill your atty. I add vodka to my VG anyway so cannot see that doing any harm.
So far I mixed up a batch of vanilla using 20% flavouring and after steeping for a few days I recon it tastes better than the Hagsen made stuff I bought a few weeks go. Best of all my wife loves the smell so I feel happier to vape it in front of the TV.
I alo made Piña Colada using rum flavouring (from Morrisons), with some pineapple, cream coconut (I had to source the other 3 from ecig suppliers though), using 25% flavourings and the ratios I found to mix a real cocktail and IMO it tastes better than the Piña Colada from LF
Got myself some VG too for 68p for a small bottle (125 ml I think).
I think the main issue with supermarket flavourings is working out what % to use, but otherwise they represent fantastic value IMHO.
