Subtank mini confusion

I finally gave in and got a sub tank mini from a local b&q store but I am confused. I've opened up the rba base and there is no juice channels, is this right? Have I gotten the wrong one?

There are two types of RBA for the Kanger Subtank Mini

The new one has holes in the side of the barrel part similar to the stock heads and is held onto the bottom part of the RBA with a little screw, because the cotton is exposed to the juice via the holes on the barel there are no channels on the base itself.


The older one which i actually prefer has channels on the base of the RBA and the barrel screws onto the base.

The one i have is the one with the holes and a screw holding it in place. I assume it is built the same but all the you tube vids are of the one with the channels?

Build is the same, no worries there. The subtank is by far the easiest tank to recoil (for me) I almost wept on Sunday doing dual coil builds in my goblin mini's and having to get them above 0.45 for my vaporshark30's

A friend of mine uses the v2 rba, his only advice is to make sure the holes are covered (from the inside) to avoid flooding, but not pack too much cotton in there as it wont wick fast enough, trial and error.

Ahhh thank you. I've secured a coil do I just pull cotton up and tuck down or cut it and fan it out to spread across the holes, rip trippers called it the pancake method lol

The coil was very easy to secure!

Here's a video of a build on the version you have, he gets to the wicking part at about the 14 minute mark so just jump to 14 minutes in.



I prefer the older version with the channels because you always get a good vacuum on it so when you take a pull the vacuum pulls the juice into the cotton.
The vacuum on the new style isn't as strong so you rely more on capillary action.

if youve just got the tank i would recommend using one of the pre made coils first to get used to sub ohming. screw it in and your done.
unless of course youve used sub ohm before and built coils before then just ignore this

I put the coil in then put the barrel on with the holes in then feed the cotton through, cut the cotton leaving about 1 to 2 mm poking out and fan this out so it forms a barrier,, I've wicked mine this way three or four times this way very successfully. I am using the pre-wound nickel coils from FT and they work great.

I'm cheating a little though as I haven't built it as a sub ohm tank, so am putting the coils to one side. I've built a slightly higher one to test out mouth to lung so that I can use my tank cracking juices again lol and of course, should I feel the need to give subohming a chance, I have the heads ready:)

I'm with Get Off My Cloud, tried everything with the v2 and still managed to vape more cotton than juice, much prefer the v1 RBA deck. Having said that I've had nothing but dry hits using the stock coils, tried a bit of tinkering and adjusting, still dry hits galore. Managed to find time this morning to recoil three v1's and normal, pleasant vaping has resumed in the striker residence.

Like many others it appears, still getting dry hits from time to time with the subtank, seemingly regardless of more/less cotton. Going to try feeding it through from the side, sounds sensible to me....

So far, far so good on a third of the tank, it doing to try des's way next, flavour seems a bit muted
