IVe had enough of paying 240 road tax for it to sit on the drive 360 days a year plus I need something a little more practical than a Porsche for the tip runs.

You still happy with yours lobeydosser, just been reading your old thread. I'm over the moon with mine!
Over the years I have had a number of different vehicles and the Duster is the only one that if it was written off in an accident I'd go straight out and buy another.
Yes it is basic and I'm sure there are other cars out there that would be more comfortable, but for the price and for what you get, there is nothing else to touch it. It is the first "new car" that I have ever been able to afford and, being a 4 wheel drive, it does more than I will ever need.

Good to see you're still pleased with it. I Live in the sticks so I need 4*4 for the snow and it will double as a runaround for the Mrs. I'm contemplating a Laureate a couple of years old subject to confirmation of the size of my tax bill Have you had the opportunity to test it in snow ?

<<<Have you had the opportunity to test it in snow ? >>> Not yet ArcturionI bought the Duster to pull our caravan out of muddy caravan parks, but not had to use it for that yet. However I also have a ute trailer and the Duster has pulled that out of a few trouble spots. We went for the Ambience because I thought it would be better, for us, than the Laureate, but I misunderstood the bumf on the Laureate and if we bought another Dacia, that is what we would go for. However, as I have a 7 year warranty on the Duster, I will not be buying another one anytime soon. Going on the 85% KW towing suggestion, the Duster will safely tow up to 1164Kg. Our van is just under this, but modern vans are usually well over this limit and so, for caravanners the Duster is usually too small. The Official (Dacia) MPG is 53.3mpg, but Which Magazine says a truer one is 43.9mpg. The best I have had from mine was 49mpg.

Dacia left hand drive cars are made in Rumania. The right hand drive ones are made in India. There is a lot of snobbishness regarding foreign cars, especially those made outside the EU and so, as well as general reliability, you have to contend with other people's perception of what makes a good motor vehicle and anything going wrong with the car tends to be put down to where it was manufactured rather than a straight mechanical failure.
This ofcourse is a joke because the 2 things that went wrong with my Duster were due to bad workmanship by a firm in Newcastle who fitted my "upgrades". IE the Parking Sensors and the Towbar. Part of the Parking Sensors had been missed out completely and the Towbar bolts that hold it to the chassis had not been tightened up at all and were only finger tight.
