You have to admit that you're intrigued by the wonderful (mostly) smell of some eliquids? Wasps I'm sure are no different Especially given the prospect of a lovely fruity meal Imagine their disappointment when there is no 'peach' or 'watermelon'. This has been covered before and it seems you're not alone. They aren't interested in humans till you become a threat though. Your last sentence is like speaking to the pest control company I deal with. Their exact words have always been ' wasps are completely intolerant to humans'.
I have racked up a few miles running along scaffolding boards to try and get away from the buggers. There isn't much I will run from but I blow up like the elephant man if I get stung by one of the little barstewards.
Reminds me of a job I was on years ago pointing the outside of a chapel, cleaning out and disturbed a wasps, nest thank the stars we had 5 ton of sand dumped at the end of the scaffolding, good 20ft up cleared 6 blokes straight off in about 3 seconds

Eurgh, we went to a country fair this weekend and there were wasps everywhere. It ruined the day running from wasps, consoling a screaming 6 year old when one landed on her, fishing them out if your pint.
The organisers hadn't even bothered to put wasp traps around.
Wasps are Satan Spawn!

They do seem to have eased off round our way now. Hopefully that's it for this year.

They are splendid summertime garden cleaners. They eat up all sorts of nasties that you would otherwise be pestered with, eg caterpillar larvae, which would decimate your veg patch/flowers. Unfortunately, at this time of the year, the males are kicked out of the nest and get drunk on rotting fruit, or slowly starve to death. This is why they get bothersome. They are greatly maligned, much like sharks and snakes etc. Give 'em some slack, they're homeless and hungry. And don't flap your arms around when you see them, it just makes them angry. You might be getting your wasps & bees mixed up a bit there, & not all wasps eat insects.......& most of them at this time of the year bothering humans are the female workers looking for food because the nest is dying off & theres no food left.

Here's a good link about waspsI feckin hate wasps, they try & steal honey from my hives....Hornets are even worse, but they struggle to get in the hive's due to the small entrance.
