TC vaping I’m using a Sigelei 75W with a Magma RDA. 14 turns of 0.32 Ni200 wrapped on a 3mm mandrel, nominal resistance 0.2 ohms, wicked with cotton. When I first attach the RDA and set the resistance it comes out at 0.18 ohms. The vape is very poor. But if after 2-3 vapes I let it sit for a couple of mins and then reset the resistance ( 0.2-0.22 ohms) the vape is vastly superior! This is now my daily routine.

I always let a new ni200 coiled Atty sit on the mod for 5 minutes before locking the resistance to let it "settle down".

0.18 ohm is a little low for that 0.2 seems more realistic for the dimensions. You are effectively turning the temp limit up, what temp do you have it set for?
It may be shorting between loops when cold next time you rewick try strumming the coil after fitting the wick.

VapingBadTemp is set at 175C and there definitely no touching coils. On closer inspection the cold coil is 0.19 ohms, this could be inaccuracy in the Sigelei. Jim

Jim 175 C (347 F) is very low IMO, I vape between 193 C & 204 C, DNA40s default to 230 C, I would try between 200 & 220 C IIWU rather than tricking the resistance reading.

Yes Jim, that`s very low, should certainly be over 400F We are all different, 400 F is the max for me and then only with ribbon wire, I saw RipTrippers VaporShark 200 review and he was vaping at 390 F, but I never go below 370 F and 380 f is about norm on a good build for me.

You really cant trust the temperature displayed, they are all a bit different. The test is best done on each individual mod and used as a reference. I have about 12 TC mods here now and no two are exactly the same displayed burn point temp

From Wikipedia - Cotton
But I wouldn't worry about the cotton temp you never need to get that high that you will scorch it. Just adjust for flavour by first getting a nice vape then turning down to see if a little less heat improves the flavour, go one step too far to make sure then go back. IMO the optimum temp is more dependent the liquid than the wick.
ETA I think the temps are higher than the wickipedia ones for the type of cotton we use in a coil, 420 F for 10 seconds will just mark cotton, ignore the lower wick in the picture. (will add pic later postimg is playing up)

robby charliehorse VapingBad Thank you for all your info gents! The bottom line seems to be trial and error and suck it and see. 14 turns for the coil was certainly good advice, ta VB. Jim

It just makes the coil sit more evenly on the wick, they can get moved pulling the wick through and occasionally 2 loop can be too tight to each other ans short circuit.
