hijack, I dont like being patronised in that way. It`s not the first time and it wont be the last. I have been in electrics, electronics and electro mechanics for well over 40 years, including 6 years in the navy fixing radar and other communication equipment. I am a FIXER, it`s what I do. I will not have someone patronise me in that way about a subject that I know and know very well. I may not spout a lot of unnecessary fluff the way some do or snipe in that manner, but I do know what I am talking about. About the mods, yes, that`s a good path to go. Get a reference point for the mods, it will be interesting to see if there is a difference between them. They may surprise us and be very close, only wish I had a D2 to test. Was sorely tempted the other day but for once resisted the urge

Right did the burn test. Here is the eVIC The reason for it looking like I started backwards is the 1st cotton I was getting no marks at all up to 500 then I figured that with no juice it looked like it was sending no power to the coil. So I got new piece and blew on the coils whilst holding the fire button which seemed to do the trick, hence its a bit cock-eyed The D2 is going to be tricky as it senses it is dry and gives a 'no liquid' message and stops after about 1 second??? so I cant see a way round that.

It probably hasn`t stopped, maybe just a different message hijack. I would put it on full power/joules and just fire the mod at the temp settings for 10 seconds or so, it should still be a valid test.

I dont know what temp setting you have dialed in but you could easily go to 450F and a bit more with no concerns in my opinion

Yes it gives a 1 second burst then stops and shows 'no liquid' message. I did a full 10 seconds or more until the message dissipated and it was obvious that it had stopped. Did that at 500 and no marks on cotton. I did after give it 5 short bursts of 1 second at 500 and it was a different story. Seems to me like the limiting doesnt kick in for the first second and giving it 5 x 1 second bursts may bypass the limiting before it has chance to react. I would really expect their to be less scorching at those lower temps.

Wow, totally different results. The only problem with the 1 second method is that it could be giving preheat so will be firing at a higher average level than it should be. But i`m not sure about that, dont know the D2 well enough. I`ll have a look for some info

I cant find any mention of preheat on the web, go with that 445 and vape it till it shows that "no liquid" message and see if there is any sign of burn. What I tend to do is to adjust the temp until I am getting the warmth that I like, the flavour tends to come with it EDIT ................... I use a very similar setup to you, double coiled 353 wraps

Playing with SS wire at the moment, don`t know whether it is safer or not, but certainly works well. Feels better knowing that it is Stainless Steel and not exotic sounding stuff like Titanium or Nickel Definitely a whole lot easier to work with.

you trying to find some consistently with temp control and a sig chip hijack, good luck mate, I never have... Vaping my D2 ATM, 30j at 265F, yes that's a F, decent enough vape from my subtank, next tank only God knows where my settings will be, D2 cant read ohms correctly for shit and the sig chip nots quick enough at the coil to do a burnt cotton test you can relate to real world vaping with a juiced wick, different tanks and ohms. IMHO. I just lock the ohms in start low and up to taste, it can do temp control but never the same settings again...! Nice tough little mod, mines been wet twice and dropped 4 times..holiday and been doing diy this week, still going strong.

New day different mod. Now using the eVic Been up for a few hours using this on the same setup as yesterday and I seem to be getting a better vape. I dont know why but it is. I think letsavit has hit the nail on the head. These mods are bad at giving you the correct starting resistance. In his case I would take a guess that the res is measuring too high and therefore he has to set the temp below what would be expected. Both mine seem to read the res lower than the actual, so I am finding I have to use higher temps(500) than is the norm to get the vape I want. Maybe if I apply this to the D2 next time I use it, that will improve as well. Getting a good vape from this today though.
