I've just had a similar problem with a velocity clone after washing it. I stripped it all, including taking the centre pin & the insulator out, cleaned and dried and put it back together & now it's fine. While I was trying to trace it, noticed that if I overtightened the centre pin the ohms started going haywire, fine now it's been cleaned & dry though.

Thanks reefcat I did rinse it this morning. Its very weird as with one coil it works just fine but as soon as you put the 2nd in there it doesn't want to know. Ill check its dry and look at the center pin later. I ll try another dripper as well so as to try and rule out the mod being at fault.

I've had this with subtank minis as well after cleaning the RBA in an ultrasonic bath. Water seems to get down the centre pin area and under the insulater for the positive post. I always dismantle completely now and dry it out. Was a bugger to find the first time around because it jumped around so much. Fingers crossed

Not looking good with the D2. I think it is the 510 or positive pin connection. Tried my magma and it was the same story. At one point I got it working by putting some pressure on the side of the atty which must have given it a stable contact and it worked for about 5 mins. Stuck now till I get a small set of allen keys so I can take a look inside. Dont know whether to open a ticket and try explaining the problem...I just know that will be fun.

It seems to work with a setup above .08 Ohm OK. No noticeable difference when used on the evic so I guess its working OK.
Not that impressed with the TC vape though, seems much weaker that kanthal. Ill do a few more builds with Ni, but if it doesnt start kicking butt Ill just use power mode.

Try adding a few wraps, if the temp limit is kicking in too much the heat needs to be spread out a bit more.

Took your advice VapingBad and things are looking up. Thought about the spreading out and decided to try 4mm coils of .35 Ni 12 wraps each. I dont know If this is exactly what you meant as the spacing between loops is closer This is working better than the last set-up. I can see that pre-heat is a good thing to have as I need to wait for a second or so and then take a much steadier draw than I would on a kanthal set-up. It's starting to hit the spot though so thats good. Thanks.

I've got a similar build on my velocity with the DNA 200. Finding it a little cool, but loads of vapour and the flavour isn't bad. I've reduced the airflow quite a bit and the flavour now comes through a lot better. Now I see that they fit, will try a 4mm build like yours - thanks for the pics

Thats what I mean about the 'steadier draw'. I'm thinking TC needs more subtle approach than the kanthal and you need to be a bit more relaxed in the way you draw. Closing the airflow puts the brakes on a bit and you get a decent vape. I mean you wouldnt be able to do that with kanthal, not without a lung full of yuk. I didnt even notice it was drying out.

Nothing to stop you bumping up the temperature 10 degrees or even 20 hijack. I`s surprising how much difference it can make and still not be in danger of burning the cotton. Did you do the cotton burn test? What are you setting the temp at?

Turning the temp up to fix something else is like they way I fixed a MkIII Cortina I had that always pulled to the left. I put a 185 tyre on one side and a 165 on the other, it drove straight and even braked in a straight line after.
OK that was a bit OTT, but in my experience the lower you keep your temp the cleaner your liquid tastes and the less it discolours on the coil and it is worth the effort to get your build working at lower temps. I can't always manage it, with ribbon Ni200 I have had to go up 15-20 F from my norm of 380F.

Have you burn tested the temperature in the mod that hijack is using? They are all different. 10 or 20 more on that may be the equivalent to what you are suggesting. To me it sounds like the mod is showing a higher temperature than what it is actually protecting/limiting on the mod that hijack is using. Until we have a reference point from that particular mod, then no one knows what temperature the coil is firing at.

OK you two, don't fall out trying to help me....I appreciate advice from both of you. I havnt done a burn test yet robby . When I tried out the evic for the 1st time I had it set at 520 which was way too high(my experience of the SMY not working properly) and noticed that the cotton was getting scorched so turned it down to 420. Have been using the D2 now as it was the one that was causing me concern with it not firing at the specified limits. So want to make sure it was working properly at the higher res that it will fire.(the SMY again, something was causing it to read the res wrong and everything was shot from there.) I will vape this one dry and do a test just so I know what point it starts burning the cotton. ATM I have it set at 445 and 40J on a the duel coil above that it is reading it at .09 Ill do them both once its dry and see if they are 1.) reading the res the same and 2.) too see if the cotton burns at the same point or not.
