I do as well but the wire will often fall past the edge under the weight of the spool and also you cant make a clapton coil with a small magnetic strip as the wire would not rove freely

I bought some of those spool tamers a while ago, personally i found they grip the wire too tightly, much easier and faster to just hold the spool in your hand and keep just enough tension on it to stop the wire flipping over the edge of the spool.

I have made the wire a few times and it is a faff and uses miles of the thinner wire that it is so much easier to buy the wire, but don't see the point of buying coils as especially Ni200 is about the easiest thing to coil with that I have ever used it just stays where you put it.

Soz VB I am a bit confused

Are you saying it is better to buy a roll of ready made clapton and make the coils, but not buy the ready made coils? or are you saying it is better to make your own clapton wire and make your coils from that?

I have never used a clapton so I don't have a clue.

So, can you get Ni200 clapton?, are there different AWG grades of ready made or is a it a case of one size fits all?

I got some 28/32 from FT, other sizes are available if you look at the bottom right of the product page including fused clapton.

Greigster I have ordered the NI200 Hendrix ( we so gotta get that name to stick for the NI200 version....! ) after seeing VapingBad had some.... Never noticed any difference with twisted personally, just used thinker wire imstrad so stopped there, then pre made came and thought what the heck.....but this Clapton stuff does work though on kanthel, it's better.....waiting for my Hendrix with hopefully the same better results.
