Bamboo DNA200 - more parts

The first parts for my next vaping project just turned up:





These are all the custom laser cut parts that are going to be laminated together to make the box - enough for 3 because one didn't fit on the smallest size board.

Next step: measure everything with digital calipers so that the 3d-printed "core" can be made an exact fit. The core will support the thinner parts of the case and have all the fixtures to house the other components: board, screen, separate fire switch.

I don't have either of those things so I'm "cheating": they're probably not all that visible on the photos but the laser cutting includes tiny little alignment holes so that each layer can be slid onto 1mm wide stainless rods.

I built a guitar neck once with laminated Brazilian rosewood & ash. A rosewood finger board on top, but the look of the alternate wood colours was lovely to look at. Keep the template Nick

I would like this post to be considered as the official addition of a laser cutter to my Christmas wishlist.

Only a few grand for a decent one

Best bet is to find someone in family who has a friend that is a technician in a dt department in school. The laminates or wood are generally pretty cheap. And there's a software programme called 2dv2. Very simple to use and it's what most places use to print to the laser cutter

That is an awesome idea.

The closest one to me is in York but they don't appear to have a laser cutter to hand. That said, I'm sure it won't take me long to find a different excuse to go along.
