Of course they're not going to agree with e cigarettes. They'll lose custom on their patches, gum, inhalators etc.. As we all know, e cigarettes aren't a smoking cessation device, they're an alternative, but they want people to give up using their medically approved extortionately expensive stop smoking aids time and time again (as they don't work.)
That article's a load of twaddle IMHO.

Yes it is, Anne. The FDA test that is so often quoted by the antis, has been shown to be bogus. The amount of impurities that they found were so small as to be insignificant and the diethylene glycol found in one sample was also insignificant. Nonetheless the antis like to proclaim that DG is toxic.
As far as their claims that there is no evidence that e-cigs help people to stop smoking. There is plenty of evidence, but they turn a blind eye to it, because it doesn't fit into their agenda, which is to end tobacco and nicotine use, period. What upsets them about e-cig use is that it looks like smoking, to them anyway.

It rather re-enforces what Charleski was saying about some in the medical profession's opinion on ecigs. Had a customer in the shop last week ( looking at herbal cigs ) whose Smoking Cessation Nurse, told her to throw away the ecig kit she had bought, because it was dangerous.

I explained that the Herbal Cigarettes she was looking at were infact more ' dangerous ' to her health, as although they're nicotine free, they contain tar and other additives Karma.
She had already sold on her ecig kit sadly, on the strength of the Cessation nurse's words . . . so I gave her a couple of our Supplier's cards that I carry around in my pocket at work.
I think the seed of doubt had been sown though, she was really struggling and had gone and bought some tobacco ciggies to see her through . . . .

Grrrr.......... I'm slightly wound up tonight because of this and because I have a 'well woman' appointment tomorrow. the last time I had one of these I had to listen to the fattest nurse you can imagine telling me that I was overweight as my BMI was 26 Grrrrrrrrr God knows what will be said tomorrow! All this 'health education', nanny state stuff just wastes loads of money that could be spent on other things! Half the health proffesionals spouting this stuff haven't got a clue what they're talking about......... they are just reading a script, written by some government suit! Poor woman, great job by the cessation nurse Sorry, rant over (I hope :-[ )

I really felt for this poor lady . . . well wound up she was as she'd been made to feel like a ' failure ' by this nurse, who was an ex-smoker herself. . . what do you do, other than endeavour to redress the balance with some facts/personal experience of ecigs.

Anti-e cig 'think they know it all but know bog all' idiots make me want to vomit. People have no right to comment on anything they have no knowledge on.
Might as well ask a dustman to do open heart surgery. As an exaggerated example I hasten to add!

Perhaps not so exaggerated, Anne. Most antis and politicians as well, know as much about e-cigs as a trash collector (dustman) knows about heart surgery. :-[

Wherein lies the problem - a lie can be halfway round the world before the truth has got its boots on.

They don't want to know either. As far as they're concerned, ignorance is bliss.
