My best friend has decided to give e-cigs and vaping a go and has bought herself an E-Lite starter kit that is on offer in various weekly magazines for £25.99. Being relatively new to vaping I cant really advise her on her kit, and I'm not sure if she would like one like mine or whether she'd be interested in various flavor juices, when we smoked analogues together she preferred tobacco and I preferred menthol - now I like different flavors. What I'm trying to say is this kit okay for her first steps into the world of vaping, or would she be better off with say a key ring one? I had a look at the E-Lite web page, but it doesn't really give an indication of how long the batteries last, I do know the cartridges are pre filled, but if she did decide to carry on with the E-Lite, is there any cartridges she can use with it that she could fill with her own juices. The pre-filled on their site seem a bit expensive to my mind @ £7.99 for 2. Thanks

im not 100% but i heard the old elites with atty/carts was a 306 connection which would mean all 510 things would fit. i would double check but presume all elites are the same/interchangable.

That does seem very expensive for cartridges Can you not get together and see if some of your cartos will fit? You could also give her a shot of your kit, see what she thinks?

I think the e-lites are RN4081 fittings & if so she is going to find it as good as impossible to buy replacement cartos for it at a good price in the UK. You can still buy RN4081 atomisers from a few of the good vendors, but not the cartos.

I wouldn't have recommended those kits that are advertised in magazines or shops. They are rubbish & over priced.
Your friend would have been better off getting a riva style kit with 510 atties or cartos.
More reliable, cheaper & more accessory options.

thanks everyone It pretty much summed up what I was thinking when she showed me the links to the E-Lites the other night, but I didnt really want to be negative when she had taken this steps. I will tell her that she would be better off with a Riva, I mean I have been singing its praises to her and about all the juices, perhaps I will get her one as a early birthday pressie , that if she likes vaping. She told me on Tuesday that she thought it would take some getting used to and I told her that to take each day as it comes. I'd give her a go on my Riva or see if any of my cartridges fitted but unfortuantely she is some distance from me so will have to wait until out next meet up. I have however sent her links to a few sites and to here just in case

510 carto's definitely do not fit. I started with the E-lites, and although they are heavily regarded here as near to useless, I disagree. Drag for drag, compared to smoking I was getting the claimed 40 Cigs worth out of each carto and the batteries lasted the full duration of the cartridge. HOWEVER, like most people here - I was soon vaping more often than I had smoked and before long I found the batteries weren't lasting me a day! This is when I made the move to the Ego/510 and gave the E-lite to my OH, who, after over 2 months she is still using and prefers them to the Ego/510. She smoked no more than 5 ciggies a day, only in the evening, and the batteries last upto a week between charges! Whatever you do - do not throw the used carto's away as they can be filled exactly how your Riva carto's are! I bought 2 E-lite E200 kits which came with 10 Carto's, and OH is still using the original ones, but filled with Vapology cappuccino. There has been no noticeable drop in their performance and they produce good flavour, throat hit and clouds of vapour! I can't knock them, other than the scandalous price, but if your friend already has them then as long as she doesn't mind refilling them then they should last her long enough to decide if it's for her or not, at the very least. I believe there are better cig-a-likes out there, but can't comment on anything other than the Sky cig, which a friend was given, and they compare well to the E-lites but have a portable battery charger in the shape of a cigarette packet. They still carry a scandalous price tag but have a 510 fitment. I wouldn't recommend the E-lite, or any cig-a-like, to anyone purely because of the price. The best value for 'proper' kits can only be found from the vendors that advertise and use this forum. Just my two-penneth worth

In fact - talking of 'proper' kits from the forum vendors, this is what I've recommended to a friend at work. (Woman in late 50's who would not 'faff' filling carto's etc) vapourhut.com/e-cigarette%20kit/vh-starterWith the 10% discount it seems much better value at <£18 and is a cig-a-like. I can't comment on the battery life but (I Think?) is better than the E-lite/comparables, but has great customer support as well!

Thanks giz........... just emailed her the link to see what she thinks........... I dont think she smokes high strength though, I think she is more of a low strength, but I will get her views on it, that is better value than the E-Lite

That Vapourhut starter kit is a good price & as the batteries are 290mAh, they should last longer than many other ciggie lookalikes. I wonder what thread they are?
