It’s a long story but one that I would like to share because it makes me so happy. I personally have not felt the need for a gasper since I began vaping back in Feb. I started with a 30W i-stick and a nautilus; things have moved on a pace since then, but this story is not about my vapes. At the time I asked my better half to try it, mistake. She went almost purple and once the coughing died down, declared that vaping was not for her. To be fair I was a 20-30 hand roll, no-filter chimney and she had a 2-5 silk cut super light habit and I should have known better. As you all know, the joy of not craving those stinky little money pits is very liberating so I explored a less cloudy way of getting the love of my life to give up the weed. I went for a decent Ego set up which had a refillable tank and definitely mouth/lung function only. I found it a really tight draw and to be honest far too much effort for very little reward. Anyhoo she tried the Ego and liked it. Happiness reigned and cigs were not bought. After 3 days, she complained that it wasn’t working; I asked when she last charged it, “What’s that?” I explained about the battery and bought her a spare one so she could charge one and use the other. Unscrewing the battery and screwing in the charger was a nause, but she didn’t seem to mind. Then the coil started to pack in, she came to me again asking why it didn’t work. I took her through the details of the coil and wicking and how the juice is converted to vapour. I could see then that she was starting to become disinterested with the complexity of it all. The smell of ciggies started to sneak back in and soon enough she was on the old silk cuts and the Ego became lost. I took this as a sign that maybe vaping was not for her and rather than getting all righteous and preachy I should respect her choice. Fast forward to last month. While surfing the shiny stuff on the websites, I noticed a clearance deal on Ego sticks with a new improved battery life and better coil system. “What the heck” I thought, let’s try and get her to see the economy on the run up to Xmas. I bought two so she would have a spare and waited for postie to do his job. They arrived within 2 days and I had some mild Charlie’s Chalk Dust flavours which were not right for me. I primed one e-cig with Peanut Butter and Jesus, and the other with Dream Cream both at 6mg. I offered her the Egos when she got home from work, and explained that they had moved on a pace since the last time and that these were a far superior product. She tried them and was a fan, I was happy, all was good with the world; except maybe for a small dent in BATs profit margin. What I really wanted to do was get her a quality atty and mod but I remember her horror when she tried mine. Yesterday one of the sticks clogged, and just when she wanted it most she was denied a nicotine hit. Fortunately she was not too far away from the spare and disaster was narrowly avoided. I took it all apart and cleaned out the innards. For some reason, possibly thick juice, it bunged up very soon after that. I could see the “here we go again look” and had to think fast. In my stash of collectibles, there was a Glass Vision V-Fate Nova which was virtually free on a clearance deal and yet another impulse buy. I dug out my old 30W i-stick and loaded the Nova up with juice. I set it to 6 watts and had a sneaky toke. Piss weak, a very tight draw and about as much flavour as a NAAFI tea bag. PERFECT! Once again I suggested she try this new set up as she would be entering into a far more reliable world with longer battery life. She agreed it was better than the Egos and she liked it. Halle-frickin-loo-lee-yah! I even managed to get her to try different power settings and she is now happy at 8 watts. I know the battery is a reliable set up but that Nova is the most basic bit of kit I have ever laid eyes on. I am now on the lookout for a tight draw, non sub-ohm, handle-any-juice, attractive to the female, tank which will never leak. If I can build my own coils for it so much the better. I had a bad experience with a nautilus and would prefer not to use one. Any suggestions folks? She's more about flavour than cloud. I am thinking of going TC on the set-up for maximum coil life, there are a load of good mods out there for the job but what kind of tank/mod pairing to get the most low-maintenance kit possible? I want to do all I can to help her stay off the cancer sticks this time. I don’t think I will get another shot.

Your good lady sounds not dissimilar to my vaping/dog sitting friend GeoffUK . . . . who has now been vaping 4 years October gone! Didn't want anything bigger than an Ego initially, 100% adamant about - mocked my larger tube Mods. Finally, about two years in I got them to try a Zmax ( think it was ) - loved it and was asked why I hadn't persuaded them sooner. Didn't want a box mod, so I bought an iStick one Christmas - loves it even more than the Zmax now! Although, coil changing/ topping up a tank/cleaning battery connections are mysterious dark arts of some sort - I still do all of that when I go round. And it has been known for me to receive a panic phone call at some ridiculous hour - saying that the Istick is borked, when all it needs is charging. Persistence and patience can and do pay rewards though!

The aero tank is a good shout, ..... As much flavour as a NAAFI tea bag, not heard that saying for a long time got to love how service speak creeps into civvy street, if I'm righting about a bit of kit that's good I have to fight the urge to say it's hoofin or a juice is essence.... Ex mateloe here you ex mob?

Thanks for the ideas peeps. Perpetua isn't it a good feeling when you know you have had a hand in helping someone kick the dreaded weed? johnstrangey guilty as charged chum. The roundel in my signature banner is a bit of a giveaway. 24 yrs man and boy in the RAF. If they hadn't made me deaf, I would still be in. prr I will defo have a look at the aerotank. I have a subtank nano which is my weapon of choice at the mo, but my new Footoon Aqua FX arrived in the mail this morning and I am itching to get home and set this bad boy up.

Geoffuk- I can sympathise with your other half. I have to admit, I still struggle with the techie side of vaping. I don't like fiddling with the batteries, the constant charging, the little atomisers that have to be changed... I haven't had a rollup in two months, but I miss them. To simply sit down with papers and tobacco and not have to mess about with gadgety metal and plastic bits. I'm sorry to say, I was seriously tempted get out what is probably a very stale pouch of Golden Virginia when I discovered the silly thing needed charging yet again this morning. I think if you're not a natural techie, (that would be me! ) vaping will always be a challenge, because they seem to be designed for users who actually like that aspect of it. The language is confusing, too- I had to get the most basic, simple vape pen I could find just so that I didn't give it up too soon. I will probably try and stick with it, despite longing for my simple rollies, (and lighters! I really used to enjoy buying lighters when I went on holiday as souvenirs ) and hope that one day they manage to come out with a Luddite vape thingie. It's really lovely that you're trying to hard to make it easy for her! Best of luck.

Best of luck. if you don't already have one I would suggest getting something like the istick30w lasts as long as 5 ego bats per charge has a charge indicator and you can read the user guide in seconds, it comes with a usb lead so you can charge it off your pc and once you have the watts fixed at your preferred setting (I found 7.5w for the ce5's and 10.5 for the nauti mini) use the lock function and use it till it dies (which shouldn't be for at least 12 months and if it does you send it back under warranty replacement) I stopped having to charge my stupid pen units twice a day when I got it and plug it into the pc when I notice its dropped below half way (normally after a day and a half) or for about 30 mins before going out, it has an auto off feature and not stupid screw in adaptors
