Fishing season starts Sunday :)

Do we have any other keen fishermen/women on here ?
Just sorted my licence ready ,new fly rod at the ready just waitin on the permit
And should be ready for a midnight start sat night bring on the sewin

Just took a walk to scout the hatchs out can't wait lol so excited

I do a bit of fishing and shooting,mainly coarse angling,carp pools and rivers,
and shooting around mid wales,

I am going to start this year, my best mate is a mad fly fisher and wants me to start so I think it's about time I did. He got into Kayak fishing last year which really appeals to me as well The river Test in on my doorstep and it would be rude not to enjoy a lazy day out with this kind of scene on your doorstep:

i am a carp fisherman so never have a closed season...but i wish they would ...have never tried fluff chucking but may give it a go this season...may even break out my course gear as well as it has not seen the light of day for 5 years and i am getting bored with carp as it is so bloody expensive and getting harder to catch the buggers as they are fished for 24/7 365 days a year and are crafty as hell

Used to fish many years ago , not got the time or inclination to do it again , although a lads day out on a sea fishing trip wouldn't be passed up

I used to fish matches in a team and I had rods and poles worth hundreds of pounds and I really enjoyed it all right up to the point that I got an aquarium, then I realised whilst watching these graceful little creatures that all that was happening was that I was hiding a very sharp hook in some food and when the fish eats the food which is the very thing it has to do day after day to survive I was hooking it and putting it into a blind state of panic, it's survival instinct kicks in and it tries all it can with all its might to break free- I could no longer see the sport and realised that what I was doing was in fact quite cruel if I had no intention of eating the fish and was just going to keep it in a keep net to gloat about before i set it free again. Never touched that fishing equipment since and it's sat in its holdalls for years.

I only ever fish or hunt to eat and feed me and my family , I agree with animal rights n things but id much rarther catch and process as much of my own food as possible so I know where it's come from and I can manage this as humanly possible rarther than supermarket grub plus at the end of it you appreciate what your eating a lot more

Thats why I am more than game for a sea fishing trip , knowing that the fish caught would be eaten rather than thrown back in the water with possible damage , I understand that the majority of fishermen respect the fish and try to cause them as little damage and upset but there are always rogues in every walk of life
