makes a reasonable argument for reasonable concessions to vapers. Anyone wishing to steer policy in their workplace or any social clubs may want to use it as a blueprint too Kudos to the author

Do I detect a whiff of common sense now prevailing across health? I hope it grows onto a gale as others follow like sheep. Let's face it the NHS banned e cigs without even thinking about it logically, so it's good to see common sense prevailing. Well done that trust. It will be interesting to see how the press pick up on this if implemented.

something they have finally started to embrace is the fact a huge number of people with mental health conditions smoke, there are studies dating back to the 1920's that detail why people with mental health conditions gravitate towards smoking (both tobacco and other things) naturally as their body tells them to, I can remember being driven to aquire fags and smoke them as early as age 9 and i was smoking about 9 a day, apparently it lead to me becoming more of a "normal child" so my single parent "allowed it" (some great parenting......) by not confronting the issue, ive tried unsuccessfully to quit the evil weed 3 times before i finally got to e-cigs and this has been the longest smoke free period of my life since those early years /
its about time the NHS caught up with reality and stopped trying to be stupid about the whole thing tbh, lets hope that pervades across other areas of public life and is used as the backbone to inform the new regulations.
one thing that i find amusing is the "new user take up rate" is around 1% yet the new fag smoker take up rate has always sat around 5% which means less people are smoking e-cigs than are smoking fags, yet i have seen 10 year olds smoking and then moving on to e-cigs in the last few months lets hope they get off both quickly, it wont be nice for anyone if that trend continues /

The way I see it ... let people vape (around hospitals) so when they go home they continue to vape rather than chain smoke for an hour.

I guess they will never admit it, but those that rushed to ban ecigs, failed to stop and think what they were doing, and look at the wider health implications by taking action, rather than pressing pause and holding fire till the truth could be established. They are supposed educated people who run our trusts, but it appears to me they could not be arsed to look for the truth and acted with a herd mentality, thinking that the pseudo science around knocking ecigs, would be vindicated. They got it wrong, and I know why. They were lazy pillocks blinded by bigotry.

this is a really good piece for those who don't know about e-cigs as well www.bbc.co.uk/guides/zyb7tyc its a shame they don't go further and advertise the page more but I guess they are constrained being the bbc .... lets all hope and prey that the entire furore around wanting them banned disappears as the fake "dangerous e-cigs" publicity gets kicked to the touch line and who knows maybe our politicians even wake up and realise they can enact only the parts of the TPD that pertain to actual tobacco and give every vaper and smoker a giant new years present .....

They should extend this policy, first to the rest of Scottish NHS grounds, then onto the rest of the UK. Of course, the likes of Ninewells (in Dundee) it would make NO difference at all, as all I see is smokers in the non-smoking grounds anyway, because, well Dundee.
But it is a positive step in the right direction. All we need now is for the TPD not to go and mess it all up...

The TPD and the Euro anti fun, and anti health brigade have done immeasurable harm in the past few years, lets hope this is the start of them redressing the balance. Let Sanity Prevail.
