Kinda of confirms my view from day one, stay low and it will pass us 1%, not kicking up a fuss with petition after petition saying hey look over here and see what we are doing but please leave our refillable tanks and us making nic e-juice on our kitchen tables alone please. I wish I could believe you letsavit. Sadly as far as nic juice is concerned we will be limited to the TPD limits as that's the law. No matter what the UK want to do their arm is bent on this one, so Dave et al can say what they like, and hide behind the TPD rules sent via Brussels rather than the nasty politicians in the UK. I somehow can't see them just ignoring it like they have with votes for prisoners. Although I do believe that making something unlawful does not stop the activity. Home distilling of spirits is illegal in the UK and has been for time immemorial, but go into most decent home brew shops today and you can be making vodka and gin etc within minutes of getting home, with a real automated still. I have yet to see a home brewer prosecuted for making illegal hooch. So assuming we can source nic, which I probably have enough for the next 5 years, life will be much the same.

Yep, there's the law and then there's enforcing it....you can ring a massage parlour and have a lady at your doorstep within the hour, you can go to a shop and buy all the stuff to grow skunk weed including the seeds...etc. I can walk round the corner and buy 20 Marlborough lights for £5 from corner shop, can't read the warning, it's polish....! depends how law abiding you/we are or choose to be, many Europeans have like us have banned smoking indoors, it is ignored openly so not enforced. We can buy nic and I have read nothing saying they're going to target it so let's not highlight that fact.... Just my view...what's done is done and Time will tell mate.

I'm not highlighting it letsavit, I'm just stating reality. I think peoples scruples will be slightly different regarding what is currently a legal pastime compared to starting a weed farm. To an extent the punishment if caught will be the deciding factor, and somehow I can't see the punishment being level with weed, even if someone was found purchasing 5 gallon of 72mg nic from some eastern country. The authorities have to make a choice on what they prioritise, so I would expect than unless someone advertises on EBay selling it, the authorities will walk quietly by on their way to other more important shit going on. Unlike hard core drugs, possession as far as I know will not be an offence. So we can all have as much as we want. The offence will be selling it outside the regulations.

We should not get too downhearted on TPD and see it as a challenge. We have yet to see the final wording of the UK interpretation, but obviously it will include the main elements in the TPD regulations. While those are quite depressing if taken on face value, I am not going to get overly worried. Nic is the only issue for most of us, especially in the shorter term. That part I have built up a contingency against, and with the upcoming GB should take my frozen stash to about 4 years worth of nic, or so I calculated yesterday based on current consumption, which is probably way too much and would see me through the next ice age. Humans if nothing else are a creative bunch. I think I heard that feeding potato plants 100% PG 72mg nic caused them to grow like crazy. Potato Boost Liquid anyone?

Not looking good at this time. As time is running out. Hope some thing will save us. Something will save us, there's no doubt, but what it'll be and how much it costs, who's to say. The biggest players in the market (non-tobacco companies) are sure to come up with some work-arounds. Let's say things look almost useless, but Blu, Vivid, E-Lites, Vype, Vuse, all come up with a not-medicine product* which meets the requirements. Then, I think Joyetech, Kanger, Aspire will get the idea and soon latch onto something they can sell. Sure, it'll cost a bit to get it going and Totally Wicked (and other big guns) may need to go down to just a few flavours, but the financial rewards could still be there. Also, I believe these is space in the market for a new liquid brand - maybe started from the ground up. Fully compliant tested. It'll be expensive but they will have their eyes on the prize. If refillable tanks/atomisers gets banned, then somebody somewhere will work out how to make something and sell it for less than the tobacco companies. Then again, that might be a steaming pile of do-do. - - - * I suspect most tobacco companies will be most interested in the medicinally regulated market. BLU are only selling refillables to take over the shops and be in pole position when things go lockdown. They will launch a large disposable cartomizer/clearomiser which makes them loads of money and meets the necessary standards. That's why I see them as the lowest of the low. Giving people the impression you do one thing, with the intention of not doing that at all some point down the line. - - - The devil will be in the detail.

@djs
liquid and other vendors promote the fact their products already undergo lab testing, why would they need to change anything because of the new regulations ? some vendors will ened ot limit the size of the bottles they supply and perhaps that will have a nock on effect to the prices they charge but I doubt it.
the biggest problem I can see cropping up in the future will be the availability of nic base for home brewers but I rather suspect that problem will aslo be overcome, you can already buy vg or pg in mnay places even amazon sell them as beauty or catering products so chances are nic base will be the only stumbling block, but then again other industry sectors use it so its unlikely to be a major problem (although its price might go up)

You may be right. I was under the impression that the current liquid testing was done for the makers and buyers, not the regulator. Once the regulator is involved, the costs will go up - that's how I understand it. Small liquid firms will shut up shop. I use small liquid firms. (and Hangsen.. ) This is what is says (I think) ALL vendors will limit bottles to 10ml, unless something changes. That bit is written in, there is no option for each country to decide. I would be really, really pleased if the new 2016 liquid is no more expensive.... that goes without saying. It's the 'leak free mechanism' that worries me. If nothing passes the leak free test, then only people (existing vapers) with tanks/clearos/rebuildables will be interested in buying liquid any way... lack of demand, lack of incentive.

@djs indeed, some companies have had access to cheap GCMS testing others do not it seems, the regulatory approach should be based on the ingredients being safe removing the problem and that testing should be funded purely by the government labs just as it was done with tobacco testing in the past (a much more sensible approach), the TPD could be constrained in how it is enacted though (I don't suppose that will happen but it might) to only being applicable to cig-a-likes and the bottle size only being applicable to nic juices, if it is that will be a happy tweak to the rules, for several reason mostly concerning the fact they are the dodgy import items operated by the 99% who tend to have "accidents" a lot more often than most, it will get rid of a chunk of the industry sure, but it wil lalso clean up the most dangerous end of the market with much needed safty regulation.
if they deem the devices we use (tanks and mods) as being advanced items then they can apply the tank size at 2ml (most of the mini stuff is that size anyway) for new products and we can continue buying spares, we already know correct assembly allows provides a leak free tank unit so no problem there either, the real dangers are if they deem all vape equipment as coming under the tpd (which is what the TCI is pushing for)
time will tell as they push out the regulations, hopefully there will be public consultation drafts for all of it and then they can publish the final complete draft a week or two before it gets voted on, that will let us all have time to read it digest it and push our mp's to take action about it (would be nice if we can do all that before march)

If a NIC ban should come into play I can see NIC dealers setting up to deal in illicit nicotine. Even NIC smugglers lol

All I heard was him pretty much admit that he still smoked a bit. Either way I doubt he is about to join the vaping community.
