Sub ohm and batteries Question

I'm currently using sony VTC5 30a batteries for my sub ohm vaping using Eleaf 60W TC and Koopor mini 60W TC, but I have seen mods with built in batteries specifically for sub-ohming with large capacities that cant possibly be high drain. So are these box mods like eleaf 60w tc etc built with sufficient protection for us to use good quality higher mAh batteries such as Panasonic 3400mAh without them becoming pipe bombs ?

Anything up to 75W in a regulated mod you can be safe with a single 18650 that has a 20A continuous rating, the Panasonic 3400mAh is no good the C rating is only 6.8A.
Pushing a battery beyond it's max continuous Amp rating could cause it to vent.

LGHE2 has a 20A rating and 2500mAh
Samsung 25R again a 20A rating and 2500mAh
LGHG2 has a 20A rating and 3000mAh

Those are three 20A amp batteries that have a 20A C rating with a decent mAh number.

Box mods with inbuilt batteries generally have a higher mAh because they have two IMR cells soldered inside or a LiPo pack

ive got the 25R in the istick60 and at 50watts it lasts about an hour before i need to charge it.
great mod for lower watt tanks but a bit naff for higher wattage. i had to charge it 3 times yesterday and i was also using my istick100 in between.

Blimey, that's not long! I have a Sigelei 75w and with a 25R in it lasts almost a full day, and that's at around 35w. My X Cube II and Koopor Plus both use 2 x 25Rs too, and they last me at least a day before needing a charge, at around 60-80w.
An hour at 50w seems very low!?

i thought that also chykensa. all my other isticks have built in batterys so i had nothing to compare it too.
i was tempted to get a 3000mah battery to see how much longer that lasted.
all i know is after about 20 minutes use at 50w the whole tank and mod gets ruddy hot.

think i need to look at the 3 battery mod everyone is talking about at the moment. its never ending

if you check against the steamengine battery drain app, you will find that a 25R gives 10 minutes optimal ape time with a 0.5 ohm coil at 50w.
obviously depends on how the coil is built but I can swap out a couple of batteries a day with a dripper and nichrome claptons.

MrDJ - if funds allow, consider buying a dual-18650 mod; you'll get more power from it if required, and it's better to be running a high-power mod in the lower ranges, rather than vaping right on the limit. You'll more than double your charge-life, and some of the mods are not too much bigger. I have the Koopor 200w Plus, and it's very nice in the hand, and reasonably discreet.

Nice choice MrDJ - that should sort out your problem nicely! I've only seen one in the flesh once, we are a bit remote down here, but they look nice, if rather weighty, mods, and will last a couple of days I would have thought! Let us know how you get on with it when it arrives

Cracking mod the RX200 and an absolute bargain to boot, the big TFV4 tank sits very nicely on top.

i was tempted to go for the £120 version but i dont give a fek about tweeking display and all that malarky. as long as it gives a good battery life ill be happy.

I use my RX200 at home in the evenings and get nearly a week out of it between charges at 50 watts and 460f.
I never take the thing out though as I'd need a heavy duty belt if I put it in my pocket lol

Get Off My Cloud is that OK or am I pushing it. Electrikery is a total mystery to me, gimme nuts, bolts and hydraulics any day.

I think the manufacturers recommendation is 20a minimum. I'm using 25r's in mine and getting great battery life.
