What the heck has happened to it? There used to be a time when the viewing schedules were something to look forward to! My friend and I struggled yesterday to find something across the Channels or Freeview that we would find an enjoyable, entertaining watch. Other than Paul O'Grady or Downton which we thoroughly enjoyed. Not even a good film to help the Bubbly go down. Christmas related rant over.

Oh lord I share your pain, I was at parents and all my mother wants to watch is the soaps, doom and gloom crapola it all is, but I did enjoy the midwife program and Mrs Browns Boys - LOL! Dreadful language but it makes my mum blush so me and daughter stole the remote and turned the volume up

from the little I can remember, TV was on a par with every other christmas.... repeats and old films. But never mind...............pass that bottle over here and everything becomes blurred and comfortable.

Rant away, Perpetua! Very little to watch, as every channel the same, utter carp or repeats, they all care about money, not the viewing public that actually have to pay out for it.

It was shockingly bad, even the great escape would have been an improvement. We had the TV on all day and I don't think it was showing scheduled content for more than 15 mins.

Downton Abbey was the most watched TV (excluding the Queen's speech) with 6.6Million viewers. How times have changed the Morecambe and Wise New Year's Day Special in 1977 got 27 Million (only three channels though)
That is what movies on demand, iplayer, netflix and one gazillion TV channels will do. Having said that I showed my 13 year old son some of the classic M&W sketches - Andre Previn, The Stripper and he was laughing his head off. As I watch the comedy media whores move from Mock the Week to Have I Got News for You and every other show they can get their face on I have to say the quality has gone down in general. That is why I seem to end up watching the stuff that comes out the US at the moment.

My arse remained anchored to the sofa throughout. I watched half of the second series of Fargo (very good), some episodes of Mr. Robot (not bad) The Hateful Eight (dull), Spectre (very dull), about thirty minutes of the new Star Wars film (puerile) and a Swedish surrealist comedy called A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence (fantastic).

My memories of xmas TV... chitty chitty bang bang, sound of music, star wars, ET, songs of praise. I think we have found the cure for insomnia!
In these days of the BBzzzzzzzzzzz, ITzzzzzzzzzzz, channel snore et al, xmas tv honestly amounts to Dr Who and snore inducing filler.
