I should add at this stage that I am responsible for filling, wicking and, where necessary, recoiling her Kayfun Life - she loves her Vaping, but doesn't do technical.

No wonder it wasn't performing to the best of it's ability!
10 minutes, and a new coil and fill up later, and it's back on duty - all good for another week or so, barring the daily fill or two!

Holy shi%t, that''s a pretty messed up coil.

Surprising though esuxa, a 10-minute soak in hot water minus the old wick, and then a wipe dry with some kitchen towel and a gentle dry-burn, and it was as good as new.
