I saw a disposable e-cig display in a petrol garage so i bought one, realised it worked, googled about it and found this site, i then found people were recommending the riva, so i bought one from Jason at vapescape, and as soon as i got it i stopped the nasties there and then. I've since got myself a lavatube which i use when I'm at home, but stick to my riva when I'm out and at work. The main thing I didn't factor in was how addictive it was looking at and buying different pieces of kit, juices etc.

Vaping isn't really a smoking alternative, it's an addictive hobby!

I used to smoke little cigars (20 per day) and had no intention of giving it up as I enjoyed it too much. A friend told me about an imitation cigar he had, I was intrigued and looked into it and decided to give e-cigs a try - but soon decided that imitation cigars and cigarettes just looked naff to me. Eventually discovered the forums - especially this one and went for a Riva. From puff two (I choked on the first one!) I was amazed at how good it was, I smoked the last cigar in a tin and haven't touched one since. I've found the world of vaping fascinating, made lots of new cyber friends and spent a fortune! But I feel very much better, love trying out new gizmos and get far more pleasure from vaping than I ever did smoking. Oh and at this moment I am happily puffing something very like a Riva, with the same juice I started with - still regularly enjoy that!

Healthier and cheaper was my motivation Gaz. Smoking 40-50 cigarettes a day was costing me best part of £300 a month . . . and although I indulge my vaping passion/hobby to the full, I've still saved money over the time I've been vaping. My health has improved considerably, no longer do I cough my lungs up, or get chest infections if I have a cold . . . I don't smell of fags, nor do my clothes/ home/ car. But the best of it for me, has been the wonderful community I've got involved in as a result and the lovely people I've met . . . both in RL & cyberly. Something I certainly wasn't expecting . . . the real cherry on the cake.

well I started for the health benifits, I was spending 20 quid a week, baccy and one packet of fags, so not a fortune in monetary terms, if i can save any money then all well and good, but it's not looking good Have since had one person off of a motorbike forum buy a kit from ve, another will be buying one, He currently spends £70 a week, he's doing it mainly for the money saving, and I am getting another one for DIL tommorrow who needs it more for the health reasons, but the money as well, she has tried to quit befor with patches and allsorts, no joy obviously, she is currently using my E lite starter kit as i only used one pack of the carts befor upgrading, and i opened one of the carts and put menthol sensation in it tonight, not bad better than the origional stuff it had in. I was going to give her the whole kit, now I'm keeping it, reserves eh

My initial motivation was to stop smoking and the plan was to only vape for a short while then quit altogether but that has completely gone out of the window now, I enjoy vaping far too much I think I'll just slowly cut down the nic content as and when and end up vaping no nic juices but I doubt I'll stop vaping for a long while, as I said its just so enjoyable!

I started vaping just simply to try it, as I had no hope or intention of stopping smoking. I smoked 5 fags my first day vaping (Sat), going down to 1 on the Wed and haven't had one since. I love vaping I've got hubby into it and he's quit the fags too. I think it'll be much cheaper for us in the long term (once we've got all our kit and juice sorted ) and the health benefits have to be a plus.

I started vaping to quit smoking and my plan is to reduce gradually. That's the plan... So far it's working, though - I was puffing my way through 50 rollies of OH per day for the past couple of years and it was costing me an arm and leg every month (I jest, but eventually it might have, for real). In the first few weeks I spent nearly as much on vaping kit as I did on fags, but that's dropped away substantially now and I'm only laying out a tenner/week. If it keeps on like this, I'll be happy enough and my aim is to quit sometime in the next couple of years.

hi again guys.... this has probably been covered but i was wondering why you guys started vaping?? i can say for me its with a view to stop smoking BUT im thinking that vaping tho better for you is just as addictive right??? I fell into stopping smoking by vaping by way of curiosity. I had no interest in giving up, I loved smoking and thought that I would quit just before I stopped breathing or probably as. The reason I have quoted the section above is to address the just as addictive part. I frequent a few boards and nobody has ever promoted vaping to non smokers. I vape because I am addicted to nicotine. This is a result of a poor choice I made many years ago but I am not crying over spilt milk it is what it is. The addiction was already present. Vaping has not increased or decreased that addiction to nicotine it has enabled me to continue my life without the additional carcinogens present in cigarettes and without a trip to prison. Really I turn into one nasty horrible bugger when the nic withdrawals come along. Anyway a friend of the wife spoke to her about her son stopping smoking by vaping and mentioned something called an Ego. It just sparked an interest in me. I started reading. The interest turned into real curiosity and so I found a place that sold Ego's and went along and tried. The last Ego he had was sold while I was standing there having my first vape. I knew immediately this was now more than interesting so went home and ordered an Ego C kit and the next 6 weeks was a avalanche of retail therapy that left me worse for wear in the pocket but no longer a smoker. I am still amazed I am not a smoker. More amazed how easy it was to become an ex-smoker and even more stunned how much I am enjoying these really cool toys lol

My smoking life from 14 to 52must have cost me untold amounts in money and health but I persisted. After trying nasal, patch and drug NR treatments, I always failed to succeed. Told myself I was one of the lucky ones who would avoid the cough, the breathlessness etc and even had the audacity to smoke at the starting line of marathons that I ran in 4 hours. Very much believe I was a lucky one with no side effects of smoking, but when seeing an ECig being vaped by a pal, who was similarly on 50 a day, got my curiosity going.
Now, without floundering, I am a non smoker. Like Saul on the road to Damascus, I have seen the light and although the initial setting up may be a few quid more than the baccy, the follow up outlay is for juice and the odd cartomiser etc which just gose to enlarge the arsenal of weapons in this war against the analogues.
I am more than satisfied with vaping and have no known current intentions of leaving this wonderful healthy path I am taking.

I wanted to stop smoking for donkey's years, I tried everything to stop but always drifted back, sometimes after a few days, sometimes after a few years, I was never happy though without my nicotine. So vaping gives me a healthier hit and I can maintain my ritual hand to mouth, inhale, exhale habit.

I realised this morning how much better my skin has been since I switched to vaping. It's always a bit up and down, but was always dry when I was on the fags. Now it's much better. I must admit, I didn't realise it was down to the cigs that I had dry skin.
