I started vaping as I thought it was a healthier alternative to smoking and I thought it may help me cut down. I didn't really set out to stop smoking, that just happened I do realise that I'm still addicted to nicotine, but that's not bothering me at the moment!

I started vaping really just to see what it was like immediatly cut down then decided to cut down my fags until I reached zero nasty a day. Just before I started vaping I bought enough cigs to last me to mid January as I was in Europe for a few days this has been both my success and my downfall my success because beginning of April I still have 180 cigs left my downfall because if I didn't have them I suspect I would no longer be smoking really weird some days the smell of other peoples smoke makes me want to vomit but I'm clinging on to my 4/5 a day. That said cutting down has definitely improved my health and I have just taking up jogging which I would never have dreamed of doing before so hopefully the 180 fags I have left will be my last!

It's not a dumb post at all Gaz E-cigs can be used in so many ways, to just use where you can't smoke, to cut down, or as a complete alternative. Many then also cut down the nicotine content & end up using no nic juice & some then also give up vaping as well.

I started vaping because of health concerns, NRT was not working for me. I saw e-cigs mentioned on MSE and a link to one, bought one to try, liked it and bought a better kit and now have cut out analogues completely and have not felt the urge to buy any I'm still mainly on a med nic but have bought some with low nic and switch to it every so often and hopefully I will gradually get down to zero nic in the future. I thnk I will still vape when I do get to zero nic, more out of habit I suppose. but I will cross that bridge if I get to it

I started vaping purely by accident, I saw e-cig look-a-likes advertised and being of a curious nature decided to give one a go to see what it was like, I quite enjoyed it. It wasn't till I realized that I had severely cut down on the amount of fags I was smoking that I decided to take vaping seriously enough to get a decent kit. I spent months on an e-cig look-a-like before I found this place and Chrissie put me on to the Riva. From then I found I was smoking less and less but I still had a considerable stash of fags and baccy stored so I used both side by side. Then I went a few days without smoking any fags at all without even realizing it so I decided that it would end there and I sold most of my fag stores and have never bought any more since I did however spend a large wedge of cash on my new vaping hobby so I saved bugga all in money I have a few times over the months rolled a fag in liquorish paper and taken 5 or 6 puffs and chucked it away in favour of my e-cig, It seems to act as a re-assurance that I really don't need or even like fags and I'm not missing anything at all. Which is why I'll say to anyone starting out in this game, don't pressure yourself to quit, use both side by side for a while and try different juices and when you find the right flavour and strength of juice for you the vaping will simply take over. I haven't rolled a fag in many weeks now and I believe that my success is down to the fact that I was under absolutely no pressure to stop smoking, I never even wanted to stop smoking, but you have to admit- vaping makes a hell of a lot more sense

well im a totall newbie and my 1st kit is a sky cig starter kit..i do like the size and the packet etc and for my 1st day vaping i didnt smoke a nasty.. tho the batteries dont last long i got by BUT when i drained the pack and charged it it took around 3 hours and you cant charge a battery while the pack charges so as a result i had 2 nasties..then got by again once the pack charged.i had to charge the pack again today and it took longer hence ive had 3 nasties today. i am looking to stop smoking and i think i will using an ecig but also im hoping to go nicotine free at some stage hopefully without vaping too..ive now ordered a better battery and shouldnt be caught short again so hopfully in time it will just be the nicotine and the vaping to give up and no more nasties....

I got a cheapo e-cig to cut down a bit, then got a skycig kit, now a Riva. Like some others here, I kinda forgot to smoke fags eventually. The key thing is, don't feel guilty about any fags you smoke. Count the ones you have avoided, not the ones you've smoked.
So, I started by thinking I might cut down a bit, and now am smoke free, although it's very early days for me!

I bought Sky Cigs about 2 months ago and went from 30 a day Marly habit straight to Sky Cigs, I got a bit frustrated with the Sky Cigs because I had a couple of hit and miss carts that turned me blue trying to get something out of them. I them stumbled on this site and was advised about the Riva and Lava Tube, bought both, Riva is for going out with, Lava for at home.
The difference between Sky Cigs and my setup now are poles apart, being able to vape the juice I want and the strength I want is important to me. I seriously don't think I would look back.
In answer to your question, I was in my local petrol station and one of the chaps in there I know offered me a puff on an ecig, I was amazed so went home and looked up ecigs on the Internet. My intention was to smoke ecigs when I was travelling in the car or other times when I chain smoked and reduce the cost of my cigs, I never intended to give up completely. Now, well I'm sitting here, Lava tube on 5.5 with some cocomel in knowing what I'm doing doesn't have any evil crap in it and generally healthier for me, I will reduce the Nic over time.

Same as Esmecullen.. I have every intention of vaping for the rest of my life, I enjoy it too much to stop, hopefully will fully wean myself off the nic content, have reduced it already and not craving it. I will admit to being addictive to vaping, it is in my nature that is how I got into smoking in the first place, at least it is healthier than fags so I don't have a problem with it.

I see vaping as the only alternative to a life of stinking breath and clothes. Steadily increased poverty and that crazy notion of walking 3 miles or so when the fags had run out rather than wait 10 minutes for the shop over the road to open. You can get 50 mls of ejuice for the equivalent of 50 gms of Golden Virginia. I know which will last me several weeks and its not the burnt one.

If I'm being completely honest, the only reason I started vaping was because I missed smoking in bars. At the time I didn't even know what was in an e-cig (other than nicotine) so the health aspect never came into it.
