I ordered a couple of Serpent minis from Creme de Vape and added a pack of cotton bacon and a meter of rayon. The serpents are great, simple and compact, it was fairly easy to fit some 5 turn fused claptons (0.37x2/33g wrap). One mini with Cotton Bacon.....comes it an easy seal packet, its cotton, you have to pull it apart, had to trim it back in the juice wells (first build) because imo it had expanded and pulled down with the chimney I couldn't tell the difference between that and GKD and maybe a ml of juice behind the Puff. So definitely reduced break in time. One with Rayon...I had previously read that it doesn't expand the same as OC and that you could pack the coils a little tighter. Again the wick was a little too long, easily remedied as the glass stays tight to the top ( this time) No break in time, wick n vape. I couldn't tell the difference between it and the Cotton Bacon, if anything its a little better than Bacon, GKD or even Drago aka- the Egyptian carpet underlay.
So the very first person to reply to this thread yahoo2u2 ...... its only taken four months to get there
You are correct it does not expand like cotton, but it seems not to add anything to the juice, so it does seem a better vape. Of course you need to get the wicking correct for the atty, but once you do it can run for months without issues.

I strip my atty down and clean it every other week and I have to dry burn the regularly to get rid of all that filthy black crud it gets crusted in far more often than that, I hate to think how gunged up the chimney and deck would be after months ......

LOL, I do wash them, maybe months was over the top, but my Kanger pre-built coils for example are lasting weeks and weeks and you cant dry burn these and I suspect many others are the same.

I'm dry burning and wicking about every three days on these little atties. Good job I have multiples. Using cotton bacon at the moment. A clean wick doesn't half make a difference to flavour. Got to say, serpent mini wins hands down for me

yeah I don't have an ultrasonic unit although i'm considering getting one, I do have a question about it, do you have to use the cleaner fluid or does it work just as well with plain water ?

I would of thought either orange clean or the ammonia based stuff would do a better job at de gunking than my muscle which tends to require some serious working from a stiff brush lol

Oven pride, only metal touches it and it gets a rinse then at least 10 mins in the ultrasonic after, but it still needed 2 goes to get the coil I pictured proper clean, it's been soaking in oven pride for about 6 hours. I reckon it will leave less behind than dry burning. I was using acetone before, but still need a dry burn most of the time with that. After 10 mins Ultrasonic 30 mins in Oven pride then rinse Close up

Most of the time I just use warm plain water, you could use a denture tablet. It works by cavitation en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cavitation so you don't really need another cleaner most of the time.

I use Screwfix No Nonsense Degreaser it's the closest I could get at a reasonable price to what the Yanks call simple green (water based, non-toxic degreaser). Warm - hot water as well will help, although I don't bother it is one of the things I will be systematically trying in the near future. ETA en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultrasonic_cleaning

well for future reference a whole orange skin placed into the bottom tier of a stove top steamer with the broken down atty's in the strainer section above and the lid on will loosen off the majority of the gunk on t he coil, then you can run it under a hot tap and leave to air dry it might need a couple of goes in the steamer to fully get rid of the discolouration, similarly a pyrex bowl on the bottom shelf of a cold oven with some just boiled water and orange peel in will loosen off any crud In the oven (totally natural and non toxic) and less mess than using a steam cleaner (although I have one of those that I use regularly on the bbq and the lino floors) also a lot cheaper than buying the cleaner, although for he microwave the best option is to put cold water and orange peel in the pyrex bowl then switch it on for 2 minutes (boils the water) and leave the door closed for half an hour whilke it works its magic
