Safe custard concentrates

Not much to worry about IMO chill, but nothing wrong with trying to avoid them either it is like diet in that some things may or may not be better or worse, but IMO there is no proof that we should worry at the levels we could consume or proof they are harmless largely because that would be nearly impossible to prove.

Am I flogging a dead horse then trying to find a nice creamy stand alone custard concentrate that doesn't have the mentioned ingredients

Yes essentially chill . . . . the reason you've most likely not enjoyed the FA version is because as a range they're pretty much ' free from ' - so you'll just have more of the same from any other Flavour House.

N-Butyric acid is what gives cheese its mature flavour, either naturally by the anaerobic bacteria in milk or added to fast track the process.
