Welcome along liz2009 and good luck switching to vaping and as mentioned, get what you can afford and also get spares so you don't come unstuck straight away and it will be plain sailing for you.

Even the basic kits are very good these days compared to when I started and hopefully it will also save you money in the process by not going from a basic cheap jobby, then wanting to upgrade again and again.
The hard part is the amount of choice there is now.

I am sure gill will point you towards a nice setup to give you a really good start and well done gill2009 on trying to help you're friend quit smoking
