Hi all, I've been using these for about 6 months now and with the 1.5ohm coils they've suited me really well. However, over the last couple of months, the coils I've been getting have just got worse and worse. I'm using my juice up at twice the rate from before. Both the ProTanks I have show the same problem and I've cleaned them both out a couple of times now and the coils are letting juice through into the battery top ( sealing rings are in situ ). I'm getting through one coil a day instead of them lasting me for a minimum of three or four. They are also spitting and popping as I use them. My only conclusion is the coils are screwed. Does anybody have any recommends for these coils that have been consistently good. I'm lothe to just keep trying random suppliers in the hope of finding a good one.
Thanks all for any advice or recommends.
Anne

After having the same problem, annedee, even with using true KT coils, I gave up & gave the virtualvape.co.uk/shop/atomisers/unicoil/ a go & haven't looked back. 5 months on the same coil & only need to change the cotton wool every two to three weeks. There's a little bit of faff & fiddle, but for those of us that are content with PT's & unable or not wanting to make coils, then it is most definitely worth it.

I have found the O ring on the base does wear/deform over time and needs replacing and is one cause of flooding of the coil. Even though it may look fine replacing it can make a big difference. They are 12x10x1mm o rings in the standard size protanks. You could also try wrapping a bit of cotton around under the O ring to try and bulk it up so it makes it seal again and can work. I spend ages fiddling with coils and adding extra wick material to stop them flooding, replaced the O ring and no further issue. Just ordered myself some more spares from china ... www.fasttech.com/p/2156303

You could try Authentic Kanger VOCC coils from Fasttech.
Available in the UK too, only not such good value.
Alternatively, maybe look into a different tank. For me, it was the unreliable nature of Silica Kanger coils that ruined them for me. I found the Protanks #3 the worst of the lot. There's some science in that comment too... they have bigger juice channels in which the Silica won't expand enough to stop leaks.
I'm trialing Eleaf tanks with 'pure cotton' coils at the moment. The coils seem great so far. I DO NOT recommend the GS tank as yet. (Review to follow in a few days). The GS Air tank or "M" tank seems better.

Hi all - thanks for all the replies. @ Mrs Sleepy - I haven't, but the old man is going to give it a try. He's ordered some 2.9 ohm pre-wicked coils from here - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221695385697?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITand will dual coil and add a few strands of wick in between. He's been watching quite a few YT videos and is reasonably confident. We've also ordered a Kanger GeniTank Standard to see if it is an improvement on the ProTank3's. prr - thanks for the offer, I'll keep that in reserve for if the old man's fingers aren't as capable as they used to be. jess - I'll order one of those and give it a try. @djs - I checked out the GS Air and it seems to take a different coil, so as I already have loads of the KT Dual Coil "spare" I'll try and sort those out. Brambles - I've tried swapping the o ring for the spare that came with the tank - no real difference. It's still a work in progress, I'll keep you updated. Thanks again - you're right this is a great place for advice.

Anne I had a similar problem with almost identicle coils, the original coils I got were all cotton wicked the newer coils are all silica wicked and they don't have enough material in them to damn the juice flow, I moved on to a totally different type of tank unit because swapping to a high vg juice didn't fix the problem /

Been doing my kanger dual-coil heads like this forever
