Just checked mine for the last week, WITHOUT clicking on them! Apparently, apart from the usual Nigerian ancestors I have, President Obama wants to reward me... the Bank Of England have found a dormant account in my grandfather's name... How to put $1m in my account by tomorrow... Sexy nympho Angelica wants me so badly (tempted  ), etc etc etc... and most have that tell-tale paper clip signifying an attachment, never mind the links that will surely be in there. Some Bank has noticed unusual activity on my account, can I verify my details before they close the account... 'go ahead' I don't even bank with you... just be careful on the PayPal ones, and always log into the site directly, NOT from a link. Apart from the broken English and the absurd titles, is there anyone that falls for these?. I hope that's not my 'famous last words' before I fall for one.  |

I'm rather pleased that i don't need Viagra anymore although they were a great price. On a different note, the book Spam Nation by Brian Krebs will give you a healthy insight to the darker side of where it comes from and how it gets there.

This stuff arises because either yours or every MS Outlook account that your email address ends up at has been copied by Outlook fishing/spoof email or website drive by wares. Or its merchants feeding email addresses to Russia/China/USA etc for a few quid. As with credit card details. Merchants using your credit card to buy stuff and alarms hitting your phone from your bank..Barclays for one.
Websites of various types are also hijacked due to either weak logon credentials or insider leakages. You can usually see the servers involved and domain in the related email headers. Tracking of that is usually easy but I don't think anybody does it fast..eg Paypal.
It won't go away anytime soon.
