I know it's a dirty word but I'm curious.
I've always thought there was a regional bias towards certain brands.
For example London/South East Marlboro Lights. Yorkshire/Derbyshire Regal/Embassy/Lambert&Butler. Cornwall roll ups.
I used to be a Marlboro Light/Menthol (when I felt all Bohemian) kind of guy.
I think age has an impact too.
Anyone else?

I was on JPS for yrs when I was on a ferry a lot so got duty free, then moved onto G.V roll ups for 20 odd yrs On the south coast but I cant say i'v really seen a regional bias, maybe a age thing/fad though

Way back when, every smoker I knew had there own brand they would buy religiously over the others, whether it was B&H, Regal, Club they stuck with it, no geographical boundaries, just brand loyalty I suppose you would call it now. Then, when the prices went up too much, you either switched to roll ups (like me) or started buying cheaper tabs. Loads of people ended up on Mayfair just because they were the budget tailor made option.

First cigarette I ever smoked was a Menthol Consulate. Living in Essex as a young teenage Lad I smoked what I could afford, 10 B&H if I had money, or 10 No6 if I was poor, if I was broke 10 No10, if I was being a tart Sobraine Cocktail but I did like a menthol More now and again. As a young man living in Cornwall John Player Blue, sometimes Marlboro, sometimes JPS or Embassy No1 Later when I moved to Somerset and was earning, B&H were my mainstay, then I gave up for 8 or 9 years Started again due to stress and they had rocketed in price so was on Menthol Berkeley or L&B etc, can't really remember now. I think economics also has a lot to do with what people smoke based on what they can afford. Just seen, 20 Consulate are now £9.50

A strange notion for sure ..... but would you not have had to smoke them in a roll up

Straights always left me with a nasty taste and usually still wanting a decent smoke. Mind I started smoking via cutting the wacky stuff with baccy so making was always part of the fun. I also dabbled with Capstan Full Strength and Passing Clouds at one time and I had probably killed most of my taste buds by around 1971.

Started on Consulate at age 11, moved to a packet of 5 No 6 from the train station vending then dabbled with B&H and Silk Cut blue as that's what me mum smoked so easily nicked from her packet. Long stretches on Embassy No 1, Lambert & Butler, Rothmans, Royals, JPS then over to rollies started on Drum then the last 10yrs or so on Amber Leaf. Bearing in mind I have never moved more than 1.5miles from where I was born I don't think area has much to do with it, more what you can afford at the time so when I was rich I smoked the Rothmans then when I were poor it were the Amber Leaf

It was funny seeing school kids smoking More cigarettes that were like long brown twigs and Sobraine Cocktail with the different colour filters. Not every day mind you, one mate worked as a paperboy and *ahem* helped himself to the odd packet of cigarettes now and then so we'd try something exotic now and then.

When I used to go to certain clubs in London several ladies smoked Sobraine Cocktails or Black Russian. Great days.
