I got the rat rations stuff yesterday (paid extra for super fast delivery). Woolfed down with a little baby food. The scuttling gourmet is an amazing book. Apparently.I was right to put honey in the water when they were dehydrated. :-).
So my boys have a new food plan (yet to be finalised) of RR no..8 (elderly rat mix) with daily rat no.3. Soaked in hot water and allowed to cool to soften it for their teeth. All treats have to be less than 4% sugar (so that's the baby rice cakes out lol) and preferably not wheat. They loved the maize baby sweetcorn hoops I got them yesterday (organix range - Asda).
Thanks for everyone's help.once again (can't say that enough). Don't think the boys would be alive today with it.

Boys are being fussy about drinking. Wonder if they have diabetes? Seem to only drink if I put honey in the water.
Anyhow got a bale of finacard from rr the other day. Soooo heavy lol so that should help thou they are fine with the wood pellets from Asda.
Eating like it's going out of fashion & trying 2 vary their diet. Also putting a little water in the food bowl.over the food to help their teeth which they like. Have loads of food for them. Sainsburys muesli, bitesized shredded wheat, no. 8 from rat rations & also their vitamins (daily rat) which all seems 2 help.
Am also only feeding them.once a day at 8pm and they are getting back into a routine with that which is good. I also have low sugar baby crisps as well.
So yeah, happy boys. My boys by the way look like Hermes beeratz but Milo is ginger & white and Bob is grey and white.

If they are being fussy over drinking, it could just be that they are getting a good amount of fluid from elsewhere like with the water over their food etc. plus it could be that they just prefer water with honey and think plain water is boring now lol. Yep fincard bales are huuuuge lol glad they're liking they're food mine love bite size shredded wheat. Aww they sound adorable! One of my boys Orion is grey and white (well he was grey before he roaned out, he's mostly white now) That was when he still had most of his colour, and he was skinny. Now he's like this He's almost completely roaned out and lost most of his grey colour, he's also a right fatty he certainly loves his food lol in that pic he's sat on my bed eating some of my dinner after stealing it! Lol

Beeratz what a cutie he is and I can see he is well looked after lol I have never been overly fussed over rats as I have only ever really seen the brown variety but he is adorable Haha yeah he's a porker isn't he! I've tried everything to get him to lose weight but he's THE laziest rat I've ever met lol A lot of people tend to think of wild rats when I mention I own rats lol mine are known as fancy rats people do have fancy rats that are the same colour as wild rats, they're known as agouti colouring. 4 of mine are black hooded and Orion is a black roan who, as you can see, is now almost white! I miss his colouring, I wish roans wouldn't roan lol. All my boys are rescues so I didn't pick out any colours, they needed a good home so I took them With my next bunch though I'm going to go to a breeder and get a couple of black boys (I love black rats!) and then get some rescues too, there are so many rats in rescue that nobody wants so I like to give them a second chance. My two dogs are rescues too

Lovely pics of Orion, Beeratz lol, he certainly does look well rounded in the second pic Haha he has roobs!! (rat boobs ) He'd make an excellent wonderbra model lol He actually weighs about a kilo! He won't exercise, they all come out for playtime twice a day and he just snuggles in my dressing gown and sleeps. He really is the epitome of rat laziness, the vet says he's perfectly healthy though. I just have to feed him a lot less than the others lol and he hates me for it haha

I am feeding mine allsorts now since my huge spend on rattie food the other week... Last night it was cornbread...bitesize shreddies and like dried peas....they are fine ....thanks so much... In SOS you can get some heavy wooden pellets for bedding from Mr. A but I prefer the finacard and I think the boys do too.... Finacard and a box of tissues and my boys are happy....... (when they're not begging)...evne woke up at 1am to find Milo supping the water out of his food bowl with his paws - so cute - once he'd finished off the peas..Nothing cuter than to watch a rattie pea fishing jane PS. I did take them to the vet on Monday as I was concerned about their fluids. She just said 'they're fat - detox and no more honey water' checked their teeth and said they are fine...LOL (and said detox a few more times LOL)

Awwww do happy to hear they're doing well Jane Pea fishing is really fun lol I put rice krispies in the water for mine as well which they enjoy fishing for. Typhon has learnt that if he just sits in the water it's much easier to fish the food out lol but the others aren't so keen on swimming hehe. How much do they weigh? Personally I like to have a little, not too much (with the exception of fatty Orion) extra weight on my boys as when they do get poorly they can lose so much weight so quickly and having that little bit extra weight as a 'buffer' so to speak, could realistically be the difference between them surviving or passing away. My vet told me that Typhon was too fat and he only weighs 550g which is an average weight for a buck, plus it wasn't my usual exotics vet that I see most often and knows my boys so I just kind of nodded and agreed at the time and when I went back to see my usual vet, she said he wasn't fat
