I have found out my grandson (9) who has really bad asthma, so bad he cannot even laugh without taking in inhaler.
This weekend he collapsed in his bedroom and could not even stand up and was going blue around the mouth, the wife was in panic. Anyway, he managed to take his inhaler and was Ok, again last night it happened again, so my daughter phone the doctors and they took no notice of her and fobbed her off..
They seem to be really good at doing this sort of thing and I am a) really worried now and b) really annoyed.
He is probably becoming economically unviable for them........

Their response is f...ing disgraceful, that is life threatening and should be dealt with accordingly!

Sorry to hear that.
I always get so shocked to hear of things like this as scenarios like that hardly ever happens down here in the south. Not to my knowledge anyway. Yet soeaking to people on forums it seems this is quite a common thing up north (well anywhere thats not south lol)
I really hope he can get the medical attention he needs.

I have just contacted the asthma society for help and told my daughter to inform them either they do something now or she is making a formal complaint to the GMC....not that they will do anything toothless watch dogs.

contact the surgery manager and complain as they have to act on it. this sort of thing is happening across the whole country and this is partly why so many casualty departments are so over run. they are queuing out the door on a daily basis at mine. a neigbour rang for an appointment today and she was told 3 months but this was for one of the original docs that had been there years. or come to surgery every morning at 8am where they have a limited walk in access. i drive past every morning and theres at least 5 waiting at 7.15am so you can imagine what its like by 8am i used to be proud to say i worked for the nhs but not now. 37 years and counting and ive seen it change from a caring profession to pen pushing, form filling, online training load of bollocks.

The Asthma society have just emailed her now to ring 999 if it happens again.......this really adds to the NHS issues when our centre has a dedicated asthma nurse? WTF is going on. They wont even give her additional inhalers for school and the after school club and neither will take one that has been opened, so she is stuck asking him to carry it with him all the time. At his age his pockets are full of nice looking stones, bits of string and tyre dust caps

sorry to change the subject slightly but this made my blood boil 2 months ago. i keep getting text messages from the surgery to make an appointment for a mot as im past the half way mark now. as im on so many dangerous drugs and infusions on a 6 weekly basis i thought what the heck why not. only problem is they only have morning appointments. ok, so took annual leave to have this full mot body checkover which i guessed might take upto or over 1 hour.
10am appointment and i was back in my car by 10.10am sat down. hello, i have a couple of questions. do you smoke. no im an ex smoker but im now a vaper. do you drink. no but yes. once or twice a year on holiday and at crimbo. now i need to check your blood pressure. thats perfectly fine. ok heres a blood form. please fast from midnight and we will contact you if anything is found. make an appointment for 5 years time goodbye. and the surgery got £186 fekin quid for this test. another tick box exercise. ive still not heard from them but as i had my infusion today i got the blood results and they said i had high colestoral and to get back to my gp.

sounds like your grandson is getting a raw deal, my nipper was given 4 relivers on the first day and he gets another two every month along with the preventer, fortunately he has maintained his spares rotation both at home and at school and also has to keep one in a coat pocket at all times (for those just in case moments)
the surgery also gives him a 3rd reliver every term to be used at school in an emergency, although now he's in yr 5 he is allowed to keep his daily use one in his pocket and a spare in his school bag......
if your little fella is having that kind of reaction though I would defo be getting hold of the amby because it could mean somethings been missed or has developed since the last check up, and certainly would indicate the preventer isn't doing its job.
having said all that my repeat has been nagging me to book a checkup for the last few months and every time I try to arrange one there fully booked (not had this happen at all in the last 5 years) so I might just get the GP to waste 20 minutes doing the checkup

Thanks Chrissie and all, I am really angry. How dare they dismiss her like this. They did it two weeks ago with baby Barney (1) said he would be OK as he broke out is sore spots and really sore open wounds. Refused to give antibiotics until his fingers and thumbs all cracked at the ridges and swelled twice the size. He never had a sore bum until this outbreak and he looked like a plate of liver. They eventually after two weeks gave him antibiotics and its started to clear after 8 days, but he now has scars ( they prob will fade), but thats not the point a bit of cheap cream did nothing. I am so, so annoyed with them. These are the loves of my life. Ethan is posing a bit .....well wouldn't you hehe

My view of the NHS and some others elsewhere including the military is of a roulette. Its been that way since I remember ..60's and on to now. Here in the W. Midlands it gets close on contemptuous. Sole responsibility lies with management and high up.
Cannot see a recovery to anything near satisfactory. Complain as much as possible I'd say and expect flak...from those managers.
