well the charger I have was drawing 2amps to charge a single 18650 (it says its providing 1 amp to the battery on the display) and took under an hour to charge the battery, normally it will draw a few milliamps more than its delivering in charge current (the usb power outlet I have details what current is being supplied) for instance right now the power draw on the outlet is 2.15 amps charging 2 x sony vc4's at 1 amp each, when it was charging a single vc4 it was pulling the same 2.15amps (nothing else plugged into the power outlet in both cases) yet it will only pull 1.65 amps when charging 3 batteries or 2.15amps when charging 4 batteries, thus I must conclude that it was actually pushing the full 2 amps into the single battery last time (particularly as it was fully charged in under an hour having received around 1650mah) perhaps that's down to being lucky enough to receive a revised box (on startup it displays ver1.03) ive no idea, other than it passed the genuine product verification check online Yeah, but no, but, USB current is not charge current. Your one sounds like it has a fault with its current regulation I would keep a close eye on it IIWY especially that the voltage doesn't go much above 4.2 V, that it is reducing current when it gets to 4.15-4.18 V and it does stop charging.

With all these new chargers do I need to also buy a adapter as to charge from 240v socket ? It's been 3 year since I had to buy a charger and my old one had a normal 240v plug on it.

I've had a Nitecore i4 for around 2 years - still working fine for me. Chose the i4 as it will also charge me rechargeable AA's (so only need to travel with one charger for all me requirements) - and 4 lanes is sufficient for my needs - 3 at a time of me 6 LG 18650's for me Rx200 and 1 for me Kbox or an AA for me shaver/trimmer. standard 'tape deck' style lead - so will take either a UK, US or Chinese lead to plug in at the mains or a car ciggy lighter adapter. Speed less important to me - have it somewhere 'safe' and plugged in almost constantly (Naughty Digi )

xtar you need an external usb source Nitecore plug straight into the electric Only a few newer XTars need USB, they all used to come with mains and car adapter, my 3 are like this, I think they offer both kinds now. Personally I would avoid anything more than a 1 bay USB charger as you then have to make sure you have a high current USB supply. minime you could also consider 3 or 4 of the 1 A Xtar USB chargers about £5 each and a high current USB supply, that would be faster than any of the Nitecores and as fast as the faster 4 bay chargers.

Think in swaying towards the d4 thingy because of you can plug straight into 240v if I'm right.
