Hey guys, i just got a new ego 1100 battery from l&t, and for some reason the light on my screw-on charger stays red when it's charged. The other ego batteries I've had, when they're charged, the blue light on the battery goes off (I think) and the charger light turns green - with this one the blue battery light goes off but the charger light stays red. Reckon there's something up with it? It seems to work fine otherwise. Thanks..

Yes, the LED should change from red to green when fully charged. What charger are you using (what does it say on the label, i.e. output voltage, and current mA)? How long have you had it charging?
(Note: Remember do not leave batteries charging unattended or overnight)

The charger is 4.2V 420ma. It was on for about 7 hours before the blue battery light went off.

The charger seems correct rating. The eGo brand that we used to sell the battery light would flash blue and then turn off after a very short while, once charging has started. Sounds like there may be an issue with either the battery or charger. Do you have another charger to see if the problem is with the battery? Maybe try contacting LT? [ETA] I take it that the charger LED is green without a battery connected scoops? (It should be)

I've had 3 other ego batteries and I think the blue light has always stayed on until the battery is charged. But the charger light has always turned green when other batteries were fully charged. This is my only charger, from fasttech. I don't mind using the battery like this, but I guess if the fault could cause other issues, then that's a problem. Guess I'll try contacting LT tomorrow, thanks..

I never found that they lasted indefinitely with the fair amount of use I gave them. This is my only charger, from fasttech. A piece of equipment like that, for what it costs it's always worth having spares.

I've had the charger about 5 months, and this is my 3rd ego battery of this size - the other 2 have both taken about 6 - 7 hours to fully charge from flat. I had a smaller one that took 2 - 3 hours.

I contacted LT and got this response: Some ego's the light on the Usb cable will turn green other makes of ego's don't.
Also some egos the light on ego will still lit whilst charging and others don't.
Please contact us after you have tried using it if there is something wrong. I think I'm happy to keep using it as long as it's not significantly more likely to blow up or something

Ah, my charger has just done the same with my other working battery, also from LT - the red light stays on at the end. Guess it's time to try a new charger..

Guess it's time to try a new charger.. well the chargers don't last long especially if your using a power outlet that doesn't have a surge protector in it, I've had over 20 phone chargers in the last 5 years (because kids never listen) where before they would last for years but now our supply varies so much depending on the time of day they die faster than they should do through normal use, the cheap stuff made in china is often designed around the EU standard of 220 +/- 10% but here in the UK we still have variable supply of 220>240 +/- 10% those extra 20v stress the components particularly when the mains is surging, locally (might not be the same everywhere) we suffer power fluctuations as low as 200v and as high as 255v most days between 1630 and 1830 (as the majority of people get home and switch on their consumer appliances and start cooking) it even makes the UPS bleep for several minutes every day (because my PC cost way to much to let the mains supply surges take it out again) of course that's also why we get dimmer lights and the kettle takes 2+ minutes to boil instead of around 30seconds although nowhere near as bad with LED lights as it was under the old incandescent ones

scoopsyeah that looks fine, but you need to be running it off a regulated supply like a pc's usb port for safety's sake, if you have a plug in mains power adaptor then replace that as well as the usb lead faulty mains adaptors will just keep breaking the charging lead/
