I'm thinking about getting a small siphon pump that will like fill 50ml bottles from a demijohn. Ive seen a few on eBay but I'm not sure if they will work well for this scenario. Has anyone got some experience and knowledge they could share with me please?

Has anyone got some experience and knowledge they could share with me please? Could you not just get one with a tap at the bottom and fill that way?

most auto syphons are designed to empty the entire container in one go, the demijohn problem primarily is its not airtight, you would be better off with something like the kilner jar drinks dispenser that's designed to be airtight and has the tap on the bottom www.lakeland.co.uk/52763/Kilner-5-Litre-Drinks-Dispenser?src=gfeed&s_kwcid=AL!49!3!{creative}!{matchtype}!{placement}!o!{adwords_producttargetid}!{keyword}&ef_id=Vn088QAABUZSDcnX:20160522094450:s even though the vg is a thick liquid it will still flow out of that

The problem you will have is the volume you are trying to move. When you say demi-john I'm assuming you want to make 5lt of juice and then decant that into 50ml bottles. Any syphon will do that. Starting the syphon is more the issue. For home brew purposes I just have a standard racking cane and a silicone tube. To start the syphon I just suck on the end and off it goes. Fine for beer or wine, as I don't mind the odd mouthful, but not for ejuice. To get around that you could use a bulb syphon starter from a pet shop that does fish. Silicone is the best type of tube as it stays flexible and fairly inert. The suggestions above all seem fine, however it is all about controlling the flow, 50mls is not much. Brewing syphons are more designed to syphon 5-50lt with a decent flow. I use a bottling wand but that is fine for 500cl beer bottles but would be difficult to control for 50ml. The other aspect to consider is the volume in the tube. You will not get all the liquid out of the DJ and at the end of the syphon there will be juice in the tube. The amount will depend on the bore of the tube. My recommendation would be to look for a 50ml pipette if accuracy is important. Maybe slightly more expensive, but you can get them with a suction bulb to draw a precise amount. Similar to a turkey baster, but you will struggle with one of those, both for accuracy and mess. They leak. I know I use one to draw small samples to test with my hydrometer. The other answer is a 50ml or bigger syringe with a piece of thin silicone tube on the end. Viscosity will be your enemy with that solution depending on the density of the juice.

Cheers Bobsbeer Hmmm earlier I bought a glass meat baster as I thought that would be nice and simple as @broadblaster suggested. Shame they leak Doesn't sound ideal now, especially if I want to decant some 72mg nic

Yes it doesn't need to be accurate but like Bobsbeer says I don't need massive quantities in one go. I'll give it a go then consider the options again if needed
