I have the Pico and it's a lovely little mod for us ladies and Fasttech do loads of silicon skins for it which are fab for keeping it scratch free. It really is a dinky well built little mod.

Thanks Greg, I'll take a look at the batteries now. Thanks Des for you vote on the eVic and putting me wise to the size of the istick 60w. Snow, I know what you mean about going back to the Protanks. I've tried a few others and found they were too airy for me. You lost me half way through your post when you mentioned sub-ohm and full-ohm as I don't have a clue what that is I tried rebuilding the coils for my mini protanks and failed miserably. I know I need to educate myself to bring me up to date in the vaping world so I'm going to have a look at the Kanger Subtanks to see if I can figure out what they are and how they work. Has anyone tried an aspire plato or an istick pico? For info on the Subtank mini see the build guide in my signature I think they are fantastic tanks but not so good for lower power MTL vaping in my experience. I found they always gurgled / flooded at lower power and tight draw. each to there own though, at the end of the day you'll need to take the plunge and try different tthanks until you find what suits, if your lucky you'll hit gold first time

suebam couple of questions for you, the 2.2 coils you have been using in the protanks are those silica or cotton wicks? and what strength nicotine and ratio of pg/vg eliquid are you using? This will help us work out what kind of vape you are used to and be better able to try and guide you to something that is potentially fairly similar but perhaps a little better. I just took a quick photo of my isticks with various tanks on for comparison: Left to right: Subtank mini, top fill subtank mini, subtank Nano, Protank/aero tank and finally mini protank (just standing on top without the 510 adapter as I didn't have one to hand)
and this is one in my pudgy little hand lol

Hi Snow, the coils are these which I stocked up on a few months ago so I assume they will be silica? vaperstore.co.uk/atomizers-atomisers/replacement-coils/357/kangertech-kanger-coil-head-353-detailAt the moment, I'm using 10mg, all pg eliquid which I make up myself. (I prefer to create as little vapour as possible). I've been gradually reducing the nicotine in my liquid but I struggle to go below 10ml so I've been stuck at that for a while now. I really did think I would be able to re-wick my protanks and bought cotton etc but I was rubbish at it so I'm probably not going to be able to manage doing it on any other tanks I get. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. I wouldn't worry about rewicking subtanks - I don't as a rule, the coils last so much longer than the protanks it's cheap enough to buy the ready mades. However ... I'm not aware myself of any of the newer generation tanks which use silica wicks I'm sure there are other members who may know of some, and the subtank coils only go up to a 1.2 ohm, and whilst I think that wouldn't be too much of an issue for you 10mg nicotine all pg in a subtank might be as it will give you a much stronger "hit" I currently vape 6mg nicotine which is fine but I'm dropping to 3mg as I use up my existing stocks.

I prefer a strong throat hit but without the clouds of vapour as I hate drawing attention to myself. I've tried a few friends isticks but I don't know what tanks they were using and I found they were much milder than than mine.

Teir liquids were stronger than I use so could it be the cotton wicks that create a mild taste?

They also do 1.5 coils for the kanger tanks and if you think the mini subtank is to big you could look at the NANO version.

Wow Snow, you have some great kit there. Are your isticks the 60w ones? No those are all 30w isticks (well theres some clones too but still 30w) I personally prefer a built in battery it just suits the way I vape rather than anything against the 18650 type. Thats just the daily use one's it doesn't include the back ups

Hah, my hubby thinks I'm obsessed with them but I don't have anywhere near what you have. I'm also looking to get one for him too so I think I may be confusing what he wants and what I want

After doing a huge amount of reading up on internet reviews, I've finally ordered Pico kits with the Melo 4ml tanks for my hubby and myself. If the Pico turns out to be too small for hubby, I'll get him a larger mod and keep both Pico's for me I'm hoping I haven't made a mistake with the Melo tanks though as I think I'm beginning to understand that sub ohm vaping is inhaling straight into the lungs but we both use our ecigs just like you would smoke a cigarette. I've read in another post that the Triton 1.8ohm coils will fit the Melo Mini and I could buy some of them and use the Melo in the same way as I do with my present set up, but I'm now wondering if they will work in the larger Melo tank. Can anyone confirm this please or let me know what options I have? Thanks to everyone who has offered advice so far and if I've made a huge blooper, please feel free to berate me for not listening to you Sue

suebam - personally I think you have made a good choice there. Although I don't use a Pico, I have heard good reviews about them, and I don't think you'll be disappointed. The Melo tank with the higher ohm rated coils should work, but if it doesn't your OH may like them, and at least then you will only need to consider a new tank. There will be a period of adjustment as you get used to your new kit, but please don't get phased by terminology; we are always here and can help you understand the difference between voltage and wattage, etc. You are already correct in that DTL (Direct To Lung) vaping consists of inhaling the vapour straight down, like a 'reverse whistle', whereas MTL (Mouth To Lung) works the same way as smoking a cigarette. Adding a small amount of VG to your juice won't make much difference, but may be considered if the throat hit is too harsh in the new equipment, as VG will mellow the vapour somewhat.

Thanks for that chykensa, I know I've been "stuck in a rut" with my kit for a while now and I'm totally out of touch with the technology of it all. I've just taken delivery of the Pico's and I must admit they seem very sturdy bits of kit, but heavier than I expected. I'm sure I'll get used to it very quickly though. I won't get the chance to try it out until later tonight when I get home from work but I will report back on what I think of the Pico/Melo and how I get on with it. No doubt I'll have a host of questions to ask, probably before I even switch it on!! Thanks again to everyone for the great advice. Sue

suebam - don't give up on protank-type tanks just yet, in fact, the full-size protank-2 with the airflow base will:- 1. take all those coils you have 2. work and look very nice on the pico fasttech have now got a decent clone of the PT-2, I got some as genuine ones are rarer/expensive now.. www.fasttech.com/products/1460902 decent PT-2 clone, work well, www.fasttech.com/p/1654500 airflow base for the tank about £5.60 for the combo, and still a great combo for high pg juice ( I use 70-80% pg) and "normal" ohm coils
