Been attempting to make up some kind of sweet watermelon over the past couple of days.
Did a few 2mls till I thought I was happy with it then made up a 30ml bottle but it just doesn't taste like it did with the 2ml. There's a kind of weird (don't know how else to describe it) taste on the exhale. Maybe a slightly bland chemically taste.
Any idea how I can salvage it or what you think I've done wrong?
Sweet Watermelon (cap) - 8% Sweet Strawberry (cap) - 5% Strawberry Ripe (FA) - 1% Koolada (FW) - 1%
Mixed with 72mg mic, PG and VG to give 6mg @ 30/70.
Any tips would be great.

Try letting it breath with the cap off overnight, and try again, 8% seems a bit high i usually use around 4% in mixes.

OK will try that. I did let it breathe for around 3 hours last night before putting the cap back on and putting it away.

wish I could help on that, I've found that I prefer Honeydew melon over water-melon so can't comment on that. I'd tentatively say that its the larger scale conversion from a few drops to ml or grams. I had the same with strawberry(ripe)in a couple of 10ml tasters. Thought I'd nailed it, mixed the first 30ml, tried it, got greedy and mixed another 100ml......bloody awful, no amount of steeping changed it.

Thanks stevef. Did think it was a quantity issue but mixed up some flavourless 30/70 VG at 6 mg and the after taste is still there. Different tank so it's not that. Must be one of my dilutants. Question is, how do I work out what it is? Never done this before so no idea whether flavourless should taste like that or not or is it my taste buds?

I have to add Smooth to any Strawberry otherwise I can't vape it.

Never done this before so no idea whether flavourless should taste like that or not or is it my taste buds? cut the nic out first? then try the VG and PG the same really. I had a percieved flavour issue with some PG nicotine that I bought a little while back. It was my second DIY batch and I was being a touch tight so got it from a different supplier. Definitely a different taste from that.

Yeah it is the nicotine which makes sense since the 2ml samples I made up contained no nicotine. The batch I bought was a starter kit for an initial purchase. I'll see about buying from a better supplier next time.

I'll see about buying from a better supplier next time. You bought your kit from The Ecig Shop if I remember correctly BeOne? If so, then I have to put in a good word for them and their supplies . . . . their nic base is also supplied by another well known, respected and recommended Vendor as far as I know. Like car147, I also think with the addition of nicotine you need to give your mix longer to breathe and some time to steep as it will take a little longer with that added for all the ingredients to blend.

Yes I did Perpetua. It's possibly a steeping issue. It's also maybe my taste buds with the added factor that I've never tasted newly mixed juice or flavourless before. Thanks for letting me know that I've not bought rubbish

Thanks for letting me know that I've not bought rubbish Definitely not BeOne. It's easy to forget I think when you first start out mixing, that any ready made eliquid you've bought, even if it's freshly made has had some steeping time - minimum being while it's in RM's hands and very likely longer as many juice Vendors will have pre-steeped some of their flavours prior to it being sold. So that has to be factored in.

Thanks all. My wording was maybe a little off and should've been 'another' supplier rather than better
