That was indeed cracking, felt quite tired afterwards, gawd only knows how the players are feeling. Mr Murray thankfully marches on.

No posts in this thread for nearly 24 hours. If that isn't a reflection on today's semis, I don't know what is. What better time to ask people's opinion on this story. m.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/36740560Where do you stand on equal prize money, folks? Funnily enough Serena thinks it's fair, I beg to differ. I couldn't agree more that she doesn't deserve to be paid less because of her sex, but nor does she deserve to be paid more. I'd be amazed if either of tomorrow's semis are won in straight sets (Gun to my head, Fed in five and Murray in four) and I expect we'll be looking at a lot more 7-5s and 7-6s rather than the scores we saw today. Is it right that the losers will pick up the same prize money as Venus and Vesnina? In my opinion both sexes should play best of five in the slams if the women want equal prize money. I'm struggling to think of any example, in sport or otherwise, where women are paid equally to men in the same job for doing considerably less work. They might see it as equality, I see it as inequality.

I watched them . . . . without much enthusiasm, in all honesty with Serena Williams stranglehold on women's tennis I've lost interest for some time now. Although I appreciate what a fine and dedicated player she is - I felt exactly the same when Martina Navratilova won the tournament year after year. Myself I like to see new/fresh blood winning things, though I'll happily make an exception for Mr Murray!

I think at the level they are playing money really shouldn't be an issue. They all have more than enough money to last quite a few lifetimes so it should be all about winning. But human nature being what it is enough is never enough. I do get rather fed up hearing about mega rich sport stars moan about money. That being said if the female tennis players want equal money they should play the same 5 sets as the men. If that ever happens though be prepared for some marathon matches, a lot of women tennis has much longer more exciting rallies than the mens, bring it on

Served as a nice break from tennis before today, it's gonna be tiring again! If I get to watch it all. I might be watching the murray match on my phone heading up to a family event I really don't want to go to.

T'was a great result, as was the other semi. Yep, a copy of Queen's with hopefully, the same result. Could be a very long & tiring match on Sunday, I'm hoping so anyway, as British GP is on too, starting an hour before. Just as well we have two eyes really.

I'm all for equality but it has to compare apples with apples, for me the argument of I'm a woman so deserve parity just doesn't wash. There's no way women should get the same money, firstly because they only play the best of 3 sets. The first thing they'd have to do IMO is play best of five.
Secondly there isn't as much interest in the woman's game as in the men's, again IMO. So if interest is less why should the men's game subsidise the women's prize fund. Imagine if, for example, Wimbledon had two separate competitions two weeks apart and each comp had to pay for itself. I wonder if the ladies would generate enough cash to allow payment of their current prizes.
