The management have decided to have a restructure as they have no money left.....but the management lost £500,000.00 because of poor management and who pays? Those at the sharp end.
All temporary posts were closed and dismissed immediately...except the temp post at the top, who was made permanent two days before the announcement as was her friends position.
So we were asked to wait until called, and then one by one told, you have a position or you dont. I was first in and told your position is no longer available, have a nice holiday break.
I am quite a positive person and try to stay balanced and not make things personal as that makes the process bitter and twisted. So they are making me work the 3 months notice until October, in case things change. They wont pay the 3 months notice like most do.
The employment laws they have broken are in the pages and pages, but they dot seem to bother.
I know the one door closes etc.

Try and stay positive at least you have 3 months to look for another position and it's usually easier to get a job when you are working. Good luck!

Sorry to hear your news, how frustrating! Alas its unfortunately not so unusual these days and with so many people job hunting there is very little protection in the workforce. I cant imagine that the next 12 weeks work from staff that have been made redundant will be of high production, and no wonder! I cant even begin to envision the moral of staff after this? Try to focus on the 3 month working notice as time to apply and find a better job whilst at least getting wages, that's 12 weeks to line something up for yourself, surely they will allow time off for interviews as its churlish if they make things awkward?.. Good luck with future job hunting yahoo2u2 an optimistic mindset goes a long way and will hold you in good stead

The thing that gets me is that they are just "bent" and no one is saying anything and we all know it. They are making people redundant yet making them work because they are so bad at planning they are covering the fat arses they sit on.
Hey, get this one.
The manager sent out a planning document for September, OK, no one had been selected for redundancy yet....my name was missing lol
They are going to be taken to court or they are going to pay for this.

Sorry to hear that. Were you sacked or made redundant or just given your notice period? It makes a difference. You could try and give ACAS a call, they are pretty good at helping you understand your legal position, particularly in regard to having time off to look for a new job. In the mean time stay positive, and the very best of luck. I seem to have been in this position more often than I would like.
Nick
PS if it is redundancy then there are very clear guidelines as to how they need to act. Get some legal advice before you think of going to court. Twice in the last five years I was "let go" both times they were in very clear breach of contract, I was in the right, everyone agreed I was in the right but I could not afford to prove it as both companies had deep pockets and a department of lawyers.

Not a good situation yahoo2u2, but I like your positive attitude. All the best in your quest to find new employment. I'm sure somebody out there would be glad to have a positive minded individual like yourself on their payroll.

You know we have been married for over 30 years (can remember how long lol) and when I told her, she just said, FFS and oh well lets get on with it.
She has never been a moaner about things like this and she is a bloody god send really. I dont know how I would cope if she was the other way around and started panicking etc.
Better tell her this really eh

Made redundant, but it dont feel any difference really I'm sure it doesn't at the present moment . . . . but will you be entitled to some Redundancy pay, which might help smooth the path whilst you look for new and hopefully better employment yahoo2u2?

Are you in a union? They should be able to fight for your rights if you are. Sadly if not then most will not take new members during a dispute like this, but the likes of ACAS are a great help. Good luck with your new job hunting.
