I've had my OWL for over a year now, I had a play with the supplied tank and soon shelved it, bought a Chalice III and never managed to coil it, so today I received my Velocity v2 bottom feeder, what a lovely tank to build (even I could do it), so I shoved a pair of 0.5ohm claptons and thought "A squonking I will go" but I seem to still be having problems, I dont seem to be able to get enough juice into the tank, every toke is like a dry hit, and it's spitting through the driptip.
Am I missing some fundamental knowledge on how to use these things?

Take the top cap of the velocity with it on the mod and squonk, can you see juice delivery into the base of the atty, is the juice saturating your wick ok ? Sounds like your not squonking enough or you've got a kink in your tubes which is always painful

I've been wanting to squonk for a long time. There were damn expensive squonkers and for the last year and a half a few cheap ones. But every cheap one came with users reporting issues. So I have waited and recently bought the Kanger 160 and I'm very pleased with it. Works fine, gets plenty of juice to the wick and sucks back excess. Taking out the bottle and refilling it is a breeze. No issues with leaking. FT seem cheapest - actual price £40.48. I have tried this velocity clone and it works fine so ordered my own. The only issues I've read of are: (i)The vent holes on the unpainted SS model can scratch through the battery wrap (a curved file should sort that) and (ii) some people think the red plastic buttons on the black one look tacky. I have used it with temperature control (SS) which I use like Wattage ie I might use the same atty at one setting in the morning and another setting in the evening. I haven't singed a wick so it works for me and no initial spike that I found with an eleaf. In temp control you cannot set a maximum Wattage. One minor quirk - when changing atty it is necessary to press the fire button with no atty on otherwise the board thinks it is the same atty - I prefer this to being asked "new coil?" all the time. I have a second one on the way, don't need two but squonkers are the most likely devices to disappear after the TPD . I expect to be using mine for the rest of my life - I was a genny and dripper vaper now I'm a genny and squonker.

H E L PIf it's spitting when you fire and still tasting like a dry hit it sounds like it could be a hotspot in your coils somewhere. Take the wicks out and work out any hotspots you find, get the coils glowing evenly then rewick them and all should be good

I've got the Velocity with the glass tank so I can see the 'flow' and there's plenty of juice going through.
Coils checked and no hotspots.
It's got me flummoxed

not overly clued up on your owl but your running it at 0.25 ohms and that's not going to be a gentle set up on a mech(I think the owl is a mech) remember that adding the extra coil halves the resistance so maybe try it single coil or use 2x 1 ohm coils to get a reading of 0.5 ohm tbh using claptons to try n lean a new setup wont help as they can take an age to heat up on a mech
I would imagine that maybe your using to much cotton or possibly over squawnking flooding the atty(spitting) and the dry hit might just be that the vape is so hot it seems burnt(I know this happens at 0.2 ohms)
I say lad thee has put a cloud chasing build in by accident

As decoy alluded to, try dual 1.0 ohm Kanthal or SS coils at around 35 watts and don't flood your coils.

I have two velocity RDA's, one is 24mm squonker and other 22mm, neither are the window version though. Both I've found easy to coil and wick and have never missed a beat
Have you tried it on any other mod as a dripper, may work?
If not I'd try rewicking before taking the claptons out.
