Newsletter received yesterday: " Newsletter September 2016 Greetings Valiant Custardeers! It's high time we brought you up to date on where we are at and where we are going, but let's get that pesky Discount Coupon Code out of the way first, and by the way you'll have to sweat for this one! Never before have we shown such generosity. This month's discount is a whopping 40% off all our products - that's FOUR-ZERO percent! But if you want such a savage cut, you'll have to earn it. This time round our Coded Code is devilish tricky. So answer this. What single word means: A well-known chocolate bar? The name of a ship on which there was a famous mutiny? Our unbelievable generosity with this discount? The price on each of our pirates' heads? When you have worked out the answer, type it (IN CAPITAL LETTERS) into the 'Enter coupon code' box in your shopping basket and click 'Redeem coupon'. If you are right, we will deduct a monstrous 40% from the cost of your order. If not you will have to try again, but you can have as many shots at it as you like before placing your order. Now some doom and gloom…. We are getting increasing numbers of message asking how The Isle Of Custard is going to cope with all the additional costs and jumping through hoops, demanded by the EU's Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) which has now been signed into UK law. Unless there is a dramatic change of circumstances, the answer is - we're not! The truth is we are too small an enterprise to afford the cost of testing and registering all of our products and at the same time we cannot risk breaking the law. The TPD, although widely criticised by vapers, medical professionals and even the politicians for being grossly unfair to small producers while favouring the big pharmaceutical and tobacco companies, is now a part of British law - and we are stuck with it. Even Brexit hasn't changed that! We are not allowed to produce any juices after November, and although we can continue to sell those we have in stock until May 2017, we doubt our stocks will last until the New Year. If and when we have a definite closing date or if anything changes in the meantime, you will, of course, be notified. Until then we will continue to sell the best custard e-juice across the Seven Seas. Thanks for coming this far with us, loyal and trusted friends! What are your thoughts compared to CLC or your own very delish recipes? I'm tempted to try a few, one shots are so much easier. Less cleaning up-wise.

I've tried a couple of their flavours Tim, Son of a Biscuit Eater/Captain's Custard/Cutlass Custard. . . . very pleasant they were as well. Any better or nicer than what we mix for ourselves from the various recipes about - that's debatable and all honesty I can't really say that they were - but I think if you make your own enjoyable custard blends that tends to add to the level of critique! But, I'm with you all the way on one shots . . . . . they really are so convenient all round.

Measure the nic and vg into a bottle, add the whole 10/30ml bottle of *one shot*, shake, pour a drink, fill tank, vape. I like it simple. (Keeps me up to speed ) I s'pose there's only one way to find out........

Leaving just a little room incase I need to dilute the flavour back a bit. Hope you enjoy whatever you've chosen.

Please - can I ask an off topic question?
I see the term "one shot" for flavours. I assume those refer to premixed flavour concentrates - like T-juice's Red Astair, Black and Blue and Vape Vamp - where the full flavour has been created and all you do it top it up with your PG/VG/Nic? Unlike those single flavour concentrates where you need to mix them together to create your final flavour, THEN mix that creation with your PG/VG/Nic.

Yip that's right DaveJ, it's an easy way for mixing if you are feeling lazy sometimes and want to try something before making it up yourself separately. I do have a few as do others on here but to be honest I haven't been that enamoured with the ones that I have bought that have been raved about aside from the T-Juice range. But then I do tend to mix on the very high strength of normal so having tried some one-shots at the recommended range and been disappointed I will go higher on them next time and add stuff in rather than waste them

Thank you TJ. Makes perfect sense. We in Oz commonly buy locally made "doublers". They are sorta like "concentrated" premixed flavours - made at one half final flavour strength rather than, say, the 15 percent or so of the T Juice line. So we mix 'em half and half with our own premixed PG/VG/Nic base. Those doublers are pretty common for many of us - at least for those who don't order premixed ready-to-vape from OS or go fully into DIY.

I've seen a few posts by the resident long term mixers on AAEC who have said similar.

unclegromit Out of all the one shots I've bought only one has been right for me at the recommended % and that's Chefs Orange Custard Creams which was discontinued a while back, I've had Chefs own one shots like Donut King & all of their strawberry concoctions, Mixology brand, VHM, VHB, Mythical Mists, Pixies and others and they all come with recommendations on them which are too weak for my taste buds, I go in at 25% upwards on the majority of my mixes and some as high as 35%, Donut King was raved and raved about but to me it needed more than the 20% and extra Strawberry and I found the same with the ice cream one and the shortcake one they do. So now whatever the recommendation I go up between 3 & 5% on top straightaway, my taste buds must be shot to pieces although I can smell and taste all my food without a problem!

Thanks TJ you've pretty much confirmed what I already suspected. I will need to experiment with a few flavours I like at higher percentages. BTW I must have shot taste buds as well.

LOL unclegromit it's a pain in the proverbials isn't it as I see all these raving reviews then when I vape them I think hmmmm not raving to my tastebuds at all, to be fair there is one of the Chefs ones which is very strong to me and that's the Blue Lush, I made it at 12%, but by god it's really sweet and leaves such a lingering aftertaste that it actually makes it unpleasant to vape for a prolonged period of time 'cos I am sure it makes your teeth furry BUT I do have plans for it as the actual background isn't bad at all so I will mix it up with something else at some point! I've just ordered the new Chefs Tarte Au Citron and am hoping that this one does live up to the hype around it this time. It's the first one shot I've bought for a while as I've been so disappointed with so many of them...........
