"Campfire custard" - ARRRGGHHHH :-(

My only ambition at the moment is to write a happy, non-complaining thread...one day.... :-(

1) Whilst waiting for my own custards to mature, I bought 150ml of "Campfire Custard" from Dragons Rise

2) Arrived today, opened it and did a "lick test" - I thought "Blimey, nicotine tastes REALLY strong" (I thought I was buying 6mg although the website says 0.6mg - and 0.6mg was written, half rubbed off, with a water-based black pen on the side of the bottle)

3) New Cleito coil - throat ripped to shreds - I have no idea what the nicotine level is but it certainly ain't 6mg

I read all the reviews on "Campfire Custard" and how wonderful it is - only to be disappointed again.

I have made my own custards and other flavours at 6mg and have vaped them straight after making so I am sure it's not just a "first harsh vape" problem if the CFC is newly made and has just been bottled.

Twenty quid and another coil down the khazi - vaping is just starting to feel like a bottomless money pit

50g of Old Holborn anyone.......?

Their website strengths seem a bit strange to me too. To me it appears that they don't know the difference between mg/ml and %
Not good for a manufacturer/vendor!


Can't find a physical address either which is a legal requirement, as is 18+ age verification .... not even a note that it will be sold only to 18+ !

Postmodern Smoking - I was taken in by the hype AGAIN - I am so annoyed with myself.

Even 15 minutes after last vaping my throat still feels scratchy and sore. I'd read about no nicotine strength being on the bottles before but thought someone had said they had addressed that.

Feel for you mate I have the same opinion on it.Not the nic but the flavour is not good been steeping it for 3 weeks now and tbh it ain't getting much better

I've been buying from for months and really like it. Especially the campfire custard. Zero nicotine though.

Maybe they had a batch that went wrong.

Never ordered from them and having read the post above from Postmodern Smoking, I'm unlikley to do so. All relative info seems to point to a hap hazzard operation. On a day that Isle of Custard have stated they are unlikely to be in buisness early 2017 due to the strains of the TPD, it concerns me what type of vendors will still be trading this time next year.

I have a 30ml bottle of Campfire Custard and 30ml of Vimto here that I bought well over 2 months ago, the Vimto is Ok but nothing special and I found the custard a bit odd so its been left on the shelf to "mature" it has now begun to change colour (it was almost clear when it arrived) so perhaps its a slow maturer - I'll give it a go again in a week or so and see if theres any improvement.

Well  . . . . . I too have a bottle of Campfire Custard, bought on another of my whims when there was a good discount going, to check that I wasn't missing out on anything spectacular.

12mg/1.2mg(%) it's been in the cupboard for probably 3months now - just got it out and given it the ' lick ' test, pleasant enough, well blended by now and no harsh notes despite the strength. Certainly nothing special however and appears to be very weak in flavour for my palate . . . . . so I'm fairly certain it's one that will get modificated to suit my tastes. Which is partly why I hedged my bets on the strength!

So, the lesson I have again learnt from this experience - is to be content with the custard blends I mix myself, as they're a blerdy sight better than any pre-mix I've so far bought for me!!!

i guess you didnt read the description on the website then.

please note it may be more or less depending on how you like it.

personally i dont like any of the other flavors on the site but ive now had 1050ml of campfire custard and i think its lovely.
ive got about 250ml left and i must admit one bottle was quite harsh on the throat compared to the rest so i dumped it. every other bottle has been spot on after a good steep and 2 weeks is about right.

i did tell Jordan that the nic strengths needed to be changed as 0.3mg can be confusing for some as it should read 3mg. he changed everything overnight about 6 weeks ago but as you mentioned its back to 0.3 again so no idea why.

its been my ADV since before christmas which i use in my subtank mini on a istick40 at work. some have said it tastes shite in a dripper but after trying it in a subtank theve said it was great. all down to personal taste as tastes are so subjective.

MrDJ - I did read the 14 day steep message on the website. I decided to "test" try it on receipt as I do with most of my e-liquids. I am absolutely certain this has been "over-bombed" with nicotine rather than just being a muted flavour that needs a steep.

If the ingredients they are using are custard, strawberry and marshmallow concentrates, I have previously sample vaped these immediately after mixing @ 6ml nic and have never had a horrendous throat hit as I did with the Campfire Custard.

I think I'm extra disappointed as the reviews were so good and I really wanted to like this one....

ive never had 6mg before as went from 18mg m2l and dropped straight to 3mg d2l and stuck with it. i know the feeling though as the one bottle that was rough for me was from the same batch and as soon as i tried the harsh one i also tried the other two 150ml bottles and they were fine.

the amount of advise ive given to them on sorting their bottles and labels and most importantly nic stregths out was at times like talking to a brick wall but they did sort them after a while. it sounds like he sells so many though that he runs out of sticker nic labels and then sends them out without which ive told him is crazy.
he did say he had a clean room in the uk and one in france as well and was opening a shop soon and that was about 2 months ago the last time i messaged him.
all i know is since i ran out of devilicious and turned to campfire ive loved all of the bottles ive got through except for the one naff one.
just shows how tastes are so subjective.
