Has it not been in the freezer? Looks like oxidisation. I'd make a tiny mix and if it tastes OK then crack on. I always store mine in the freezer but bring it to room temperature before I open the top

It helps to keep nic base in dark bottles then you cannot see it change colour. Seriously what is the worst that can happen? Make a few mls with it and if it tastes OK and still gives enough nic hit no problem. If in doubt post it to me and for a small fee I will ensure it is safely disposed of.

As jtc says oxidization. Mines exactly the same. For what it costs it would have to smell like billingsgate fish market to stop me using it lol.

RiverFreezing is essential! I have 7.2% Nicotine at 2 years old and it only has the merest hint of discolouration. Jim

As well as temperature I have read that movement (and light) is a factor in long term nic base storage. So put it somewhere (dark) it will not be disturbed if possible The inside of freezers are usually pretty dark obviously.

For the best results You should be aiming to finish off any bottle of nicotine base that is in day to day use within 6 months - but this will depend on how you store it /how hot your house is if just left on a shelf. This means large bottles of nicotine base (250ml an above) should be split down to 1x 50ml/100ml bottle that is used for day to day mixing - keep in a cool spot or fridge the remaining part of the batch/bottle is best off stored in a freezer. The smell and the taste are the things to watch out for if you are getting an over powering peppery taste* interfering with your enjoyment or just find the smell** is overpowering even when mixed down to your finished strength then it is time to bin your remaining nicotine and start on a fresh bottle. * Some enjoy the peppery taste!!!!!!!!!!!!! ** The normal range for fit to use nicotine base is from a nice nutty /earthy smell to a slight chemical smell ----But not overpowering or rank Colour change over time is normal - VG will change colour far faster than PG.

River, I think maybe the light reflection from the wooden surface the bottle is sitting on may be making the nic darker looking than it really is. FWIW, I've not long mixed up a bottle of nic that was a little darker looking than ideal, six of us have vaped said juice and we're all still here and no ill effects.

I keep 4 Nic bottles, 500mls in freezer, 100ml with nozzle for larger mixes, a 30ml dripping bottle for tiny mixes and a 250ml for refilling the 100 and 30ml. Up to now, no colour at all (I do all this 'cause my freezer is downstairs and I mix upstairs!)

Thanks for that......is it ok to keep freezing/defrosting the same bottle thats in use? The aim is to keep the size of the bottle that is in use down to a size that does not require freezing and defrosting looking at your bottle i would assume it was a 250ml bottle and over the last 8 months you have used around 50ml In an ideal world based on your usage you should have decanted 50ml or less into a small bottle then squeezed out as much air/head room from the 250ml plastic bottle and stuck that bottle in the freezer. Picking the right size bottle for your day to day usage over a 3-6month period avoids fresh air (20% Oxygen) entering your larger than required bottle each time the top is remover If you live in a hot house then keeping the small day to day bottle of nicotine base in a fridge or cool place is a good idea. You should never keep any of your day to day liquids in the freezer - it makes VG to thick to handle with ease - who want to wait till liquids have warmed up every time before mixing + condensation onto liquid surface if lid is removed to speed up temp rise.
