Hi to all, Ive just joined this great forum today. Im new to vaping, and trying to get off the ciggies after 50years!!! Anyhow, I went to a vape shop in South Shields where I live, and asked them for a small mod kit. They suggested the Vaporesso Target Mini. So I bought it ( £40 ). However after trying numerous settings, and getting pretty good vapour, I was totally disappointed with the flavour. I then read info on this forum about the Aspire Triton Mini (excellent flavour) so I bought the tank. Guess what!! Filled the tank, not getting good flavour !!. ( Im doing MTL, 1.8ohm coil, and wattage between 9-14. varying the air mixture as well ) Im vaping 70VG/30PG juices.(3mg nicotine) which Ive steeped. I read somewhere that 80PG juices are good for flavour, and now Im very confused.Very grateful for any guidence.

Hi and welcome windybill, Can't comment on not getting much flavour, however in my opinion 3mg/ml (@1.8 ohm, MTL) is way too low for someone trying to give up smoking. How many do/did you smoke a day? What e-liquid (make & flavour) are you trying?

Congratulations windybill, on attempting to make the change to vaping, its's never too late to kick the stinkies. Agree with Postmodern Smoking, that you may just have kicked of a little low on the nicotine level. Although I have no experience of the kit you have purchased, it seems a fair and adequate set up. Lack of flavour could be that, due to all the years of smoking, your taste buds are shot to bits and it may take a bit of time for them to adjust and for your palate to clear. Also, higher PG juice will carry the flavour better but should increase throat hit as well. I would say maybe try a higher PG based juice and try to find a strong flavour that you like. A menthol based juice, if you don't mind menthol, may help to perk up your taste buds. A little perseverance is sometimes required, just until you find a set up and juice that is to your taste. Hang in there, hopefully through the knowledge of the members here we'll get you onto a set up that you enjoy. Welcome aboard.

Hi Postmodern, Im/still somewhat a 20 day smoker,(because Im not liking or enjoying the taste of juices) but I am not looking for high nicotine relief, Ithink 3mg is OK. Juices Ive tried are REJUICED Dragons Milk, and APPLE and CHERRIES from my local vape shop. They, to me are very muted.

Welcome to you windybill . I'm using an Aspire Triton Mini as it happens . . . . . my experience only is that it's best to start low with the wattage 8-9watts, then ramp up gradually. You may well also find ( as I do ) that it takes a tank full of eliquid on a new coil, for it to ' bed in ' and a full flavour to develop. That said, I mix my own eliquid at a robust flavour ratio - as that suits my preferences you might be similar, you may like to know that online Rejuiced offer an extra flavour shot. Handy for those of us who enjoy a full flavour experience . . . . . there's also a 5% forum discount code going AAEC5: rejuiced.com/

Normally a 20 a day smoker would start on 18 or 24mg/ml e-liquid for MTL. Nicotine (outside of burnt tobacco) is not known to be particularly bad for you (some have suggested comparable to coffee and others even possibly beneficial). Personally I use a dripping atomiser (which is a bit of a faff for someone starting out, but often produces more flavour than some tank atomisers - but I'm not suggesting that for you at this stage) and mix my own liquids, which gives the flexibility to increase the flavour content to suit. As striker42 says some of the muted flavour may be down to taste buds and 50 years of smoking that will take a while to recover, or maybe the juice make and flavours (others here use Rejuiced so may be able to comment more). Finding the correct juice is one of the hardest things starting off, in my opinion. [ETA] - As Perpetua also says (she knows more about Rejuiced than me!).... they do extra flavour shots for their online purchased juices, which might be worth trying.

Still on 20 a day.......your TBs wont be making a recovery anytime soon..... if at all you may not be looking for high nicotine relief but phase out the smoking and drop the levels when you get to the take it or leave it stage. And well done for making a start.

Hiya windybill and welcome to AAEC feel free to ask away some members do duel fuel (smoke and vape) It's probably best to stick to 'in your face' flavours to start with, they tend to be menthol/aniseed/blackjack/peppermint/anise/spearmint type flavours as forum members have mentioned - it takes a fair while before your taste buds kick in and pick up flavour subtleties but it doesnt take long to get back taste buds if you quit smoking

I can't say what's going on, other than an issue with your tastebuds etc. What I will add though is 80% PG is not the way to go. Comments about PG 'carrying' the flavour are over-rated. I've vaped 100% PG or VG and whilst I think 100% VG is the work of the sauna-devil from Steamyville USA (pointless and yucky) I can't tell the difference between 50/50 and 60/40, 70/30 either way for flavour. Don't go down that route. It'll only ends in tears (and leaks and nasty other thin liquid problems)....

Hi windybill and welcome, I duel fuel I gave up the the ciggies and it's hard to get the flavour choice right, it does take time for your tastebuds to recover, if you do manage to give up the ciggies don't do the stupid thing I did and go back on them it's very difficult the 2nd time around to give up as I am finding out the hard way. Try strong flavours like menthols and strong fruit flavours I find custard is good and chocolate.

windybill I think the others have covered it, and I agree you should up the Nicotine for a time, I also believe strong flavours are the way to go at this time.
